SAREE SHAKTI!
aims at collecting used but wearable sarees for donating to underprivileged/needy/destitute women from different women's support organisations, villages and bastis. Come Dussehra and Diwali, all of us get out to shop and dress in our best silks and fineries... We all know how we love looking good and recieving that compliment or two when we do! So we thought why not sh
are this same feeling/experience with the women who would cherish it the most! And so we came up with this project of Saree Shakti to bring that same smile to all these beautiful women during the festival season. We have received a tremendous response so far including calls from Nagpur and Bangalore enquiring how we can contribute…As of now we collection points at Kondapur, Ameerpet and Marredpally. Our 1st event is on the 27th of September , 2017 where we will be bringing smiles to 60 ladies who are HIV positive. The Saree Donors are also welcome to attend/participate in the event and share their sarees in person if they like. We would like for and encourage communities and townships to spread the word amongst their circles…
As we bow our heads in prayer to Goddess Durga and Maa Lakshmi and offer her a Saree and celebrate her Shakti, each of us surely has atleast one saree, that has just been sitting in the closet, dying to be worn…
