Calling for Volunteers for pollution control and crowd management in Cavery River of Dabbaguli during Annual Festival.

Dabbagully is an ancient temple located on the banks of Kaveri deep in the jungles of Tamilnadu. Every year there is an annual festival which attracts thousands of people from the neighbouring districts of Tamilnadu and Karnataka.

KANS has worked very closely with the forest department and temple committee over the last 7 – 8 years to ensure that the temple festival is conducted smoothly while at the same time the surrounding forest and wildlife is not adversely affected.

This year the festival is will be between 26th afternoon and 27th Morning of February 2022. We are asking for members to participate in this and we need 15 to 20 volunteers.

KEY TAKE AWAYS

1. Volunteers will gain experience in data collection.

2. Crowd management

3. Vehicle inspection and identifying illegal stuff including Plastics, Alcohols, Flammable materials etc.

4. Patrolling to ensure people do not leave the designated area and go into the jungle.

5. Co-ordinating with government departments for security, for health, for lost and found etc.

6. Ability to create awareness to the general public on environmental issues.

PRE REQUESITES FOR VOLUNTEERS

1. Physically fit to work long hours late into the night.

2. Patient and calm, temperament to handle large crowds without creating tension.

3. Sharp eye for details to catch defaulters

4. Knowledge of Tamil, Kannada and Telugu

5. Simple basic food will be arranged sleeping beds and other Personal items including torch lights etc. to be available.

Things to bring:

1. Warm clothing for the night

2. Sun protection during the day

3. Water bottle, plate, spoon, cup

4. Toilet paper

5. Comfortable sturdy shoes

6. Will be very dusty

7. Cap

8. Torch lights

9. Sleeping bag

Dear All,

Following the success of the first walk at Ramnaicken Eri, We are happy to announce that we are conducting the second walk of "Melagiri Bird Walks" series at Kelavarapalli Dam on Jan 24, 2021.

"Melagiri Bird Walks" a series of guided birdwalks in and around Hosur for anyone who is interested in birdwatching and are free to join. This is to unite and build a birding community in Hosur by providing a space for people(for both beginners and experts alike) to connect and share knowledge with each other. The Bird walks will be coordinated by experienced birders from KANS.

Due to Covid, we have decided to restrict the participants limit to 15. Kindly register using the link and please follow the Covid guidelines such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.
