Culture, literature and language is the heart and soul of every functioning society in the world. The Indian society boasts of cultural and linguistic diversity and its very existence depends on the preservation of these entities. As revealed by the UN, India harbours the world’s largest youth population. Hence acquainting this huge youth population with the basic tenets of this diverse culture is
a must for an unadulterated future. It is the youth of this country who will ascertain the prospects of the socio-economic and political arena of the nation. Youth festivals and socio cultural meets are central to the idea of aligning the young generation with the cultures, customs and practices of the society. Moreover, in a country like India, the youth needs to be trained properly keeping in mind the needs of the developing economy of India. The problem of educated yet unskilled population needs to be addressed. Time has come to do the requisite to promote skill based studies in order to cater to the demands of this young nation. SYNCHISIS is the socio-cultural and literary meet organised by Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati. At the dawn of the new millennium, SYNCHISIS had made its maiden appearance. After that, SYNCHISIS grew in popularity and started serving as a rendezvous for the talented youth of the region. Since its inception, SYNCHISIS has created a unique niche for itself in the socio-cultural scenario in the north-eastern pole of India. From debates to singing competitions, from quizzes to dance competitions, SYNCHISIS brings all of these under one roof. Photography contests, painting contests, Bihu Dance competition, rock band competitions (a rarity in events like this) are also in offer. The final evening of the extravaganza hosts the Euphoria-night that brings to its audience a performer of fame extending to influence of Bollywood. Singers like Javed Ali, Papon, Zubeen Garg, Hard Kaur, and many other bands have performed in earlier editions. The 2017 edition of SYNCHISIS will be organised from 18 February 2017 to 20 February 2017. The organisers look forward to your participation in this mega event.
