NRL continues its focused efforts to support startups from the Northeast region through NRL iDEATION. The initiative has supported 65 startups with a cumulative grant funding commitment of ₹15 crore, fostering innovations across diverse sectors including clean energy, healthcare, agri-biotech, circular economy, and digital technologies. Complementing this, the NRL iDEATION Angel Fund—a SEBI-registered Category-I Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) and the first such fund established by any CPSE in the oil and gas sector—has made equity investments totaling ₹14 crore in 4 promising startups. This unique dual funding approach, combining both grant and equity support, is further enriched by strategic mentorship, market access, and institutional partnerships.

Through NRL iDEATION, the Company is playing a pioneering role in building a vibrant startup ecosystem in the Northeast and contributing meaningfully to India’s innovation-led growth.

On April 22nd, 2025, we proudly announce the signing of agreements with three visionary startups under the NRL iDEATION Startup Support Program, facilitated by Corporate Affairs, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).

This marks another significant step in our journey to foster innovation, fuel entrepreneurship, and strengthen the startup ecosystem in Northeast India.

Meet the changemakers:
1. Megon Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. - Northeast India’s first travel tech company, Megon is transforming the region’s tourism sector through Reservista, a cloud-based SaaS platform that streamlines hotel operations and enhances guest experiences. Led by digital visionary Supratim Kashyap, Megon is driving sustainable tourism and digital empowerment.

2. Aicheng Innovation & Research Pvt. Ltd. - Based in Sivasagar, led by Saruj Chetia, Aicheng Innovation is redefining rural livelihoods through affordable and scalable innovations in agriculture, horticulture, and sericulture. With a strong focus on post-harvest technologies, Aicheng is empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across the region.

3. Zankla Studio Pvt. Ltd. - A cultural and design movement rooted in heritage, Zankla Studio blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design. Founded by Kirat Brahma, Zankla empowers women artisans, telling powerful stories through sustainable, handcrafted products that celebrate the spirit of Northeast India.

On February 27th, 2025, we proudly announce the signing of agreements with four promising startups under the NRL iDEATION Startup Support Program, facilitated by Corporate Affairs, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).

1. Impact Weaver Pvt Ltd – Impact Weaver is an AI-driven platform connecting NGOs, CSR, volunteers, and donors, enhancing digital visibility, funding, compliance, and operations. It offers a freemium model with microsites and a paid plan featuring automation, AI-driven insights, and a marketplace for opportunities.


2. Nilachal Foods Pvt Ltd - addresses metabolic disorders in India by offering sustainable, high-fiber, low-GI, and gluten-free foods. Leveraging Northeast India’s fermentation techniques, it offers umami-rich condiments and low-carb staples for better health.

3. Clouded Leopard Inc. - crafts high-quality, handcrafted guitar effect pedals. Initially fulfilling custom orders, it launched a Shopify store in 2024, gaining traction through social media. Now a one-person operation, the company continues to grow.


4. AmbyGOLD Manorama Foods Pvt Ltd. - AmbyGOLD is a superfood brand promoting indigenous functional foods while supporting Northeast India’s marginal farmers. Focused on sustainability, value addition, and D2C growth, it aims to bring high-value, health-focused foods to the global market.

The 'NRL iDEATION Clean Energy Hackathon 2024', a landmark event in the field of sustainable energy solutions, concluded successfully on January 23rd. Organized by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in association with T-Hub Hyderabad, this two-day event brought together over 180 innovators from across India. The hackathon aimed to foster breakthroughs in green energy, reflecting NRL's commitment to achieving Net Zero goals by 2038, well ahead of India's overall target.

The event showcased an array of innovative ideas ranging from Green Hydrogen generation and Biofuels to Energy Efficiency. Participants included startups, individual innovators, and students, all sharing a common vision for a sustainable future. This diverse mix of participants underscored NRL’s adaptability in adopting new technologies and its support for grassroots innovation.

Velicicore Triumphs with Green Hydrogen Generation Innovation
The highlight of the event was the announcement of 'Velicicore,' a Chennai-based startup, as the winner. Velicicore's groundbreaking work in Green Hydrogen generation earned them the first prize of INR 5 Lakhs. This achievement is a testament to the potential of Indian startups in driving the clean energy transition.
