Shanti Rai wins 100 km, Pemba Tshering Sherpa Third at BURJ 26 Pune

Sikkim’s trail runners delivered an outstanding performance at the prestigious BURJ 26, held in Pune in collaboration with the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) and UTMB.

Shanti Rai clinched first place in the grueling 100 km category. In another notable achievement, Pemba Tshering Sherpa secured third place in the 50 km category, adding to Sikkim’s medal tally at the international-level event.

Both athletes are students of renowned endurance coach Amar S***a, popularly known as the “Marathon Man”, whose mentorship continues to produce top-performing trail runners from the state.
