Subject: Humble Apology to the Lepcha Community

Respected Members of the Lepcha Community,

I, David Rai, on behalf of Sikkim Glamour World, extend my deepest and most humble apologies to the entire Lepcha community.

As an organization, we take full responsibility and sincerely apologise for any hurt caused to your sentiments through the recent outfit created using Lepcha fabric during the 61st Femina Miss India platform.

Our intention was never to misrepresent or disrespect the rich cultural heritage of the Lepcha community. The outfit was part of a collaboration between Femina Miss India and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, where the focus was on showcasing the beauty of Lepcha fabric on a national and international stage. However, we acknowledge that this effort may not have aligned with the cultural and traditional significance attached to it.

We deeply respect your traditions, identity, and emotions. If our actions have caused any discomfort or disappointment, we wholeheartedly seek your forgiveness.

We assure you that we will be more mindful, respectful, and inclusive in all future representations of cultural elements. We humbly request your understanding and hope that, together, we can continue to celebrate the diversity and pride of our state in unity.

Subject: Formal Apology and Clarification

Respected Members of the Lepcha Community,

I, David Rai, on behalf of Sikkim Glamour World, would like to extend my sincere apologies if any sentiments of the Lepcha community have been unintentionally hurt.

As an organization and proud talent partner for Femina Miss India, our beauty queen, Passang Deeki Sherpa, recently represented our state at the 61st Femina Miss India. We are honored that she created history by being crowned Femina Miss India Northeast and Femina Miss India Multimedia, securing a place in the Top 15.

During one of the rounds at the Grand Finale, a costume was provided through a collaboration between Femina Miss India and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The design incorporated Lepcha fabric, which was presented on a national and international platform with pride and respect. I would like to clarify that while the fabric was used, it was not intended to replicate or represent the exact traditional attire of the Lepcha community. Our sole intention was to showcase and celebrate the richness of the fabric itself.

We deeply respect the cultural heritage, traditions and sentiments of the Lepcha community. If, in any way, this representation has caused discomfort or hurt, I take full responsibility and offer my heartfelt apology.

I humbly request everyone to look at the larger vision behind this effort to bring recognition to our state, our people and our diverse cultural identity on a global platform. Let us come together to celebrate this achievement with unity, pride and mutual respect.

We are pleased to announce our Donation Drive scheduled for 18th April 2026 🤍

Collection points will be at Sikkim Glamour World Studio and Central Park, Namchi, so you can choose whichever location is most convenient for you.

🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

All collected items will be carefully stored and segregated before distribution to ensure they reach those in need effectively.

We also invite everyone to be a part of this initiative by volunteering in collection, segregation, or distribution. Kindly confirm your availability so we can plan and organize smoothly.

Our very own Sneha Tamang, a shining daughter of Sikkim, had the honour of meeting the Hon’ble Chief Minister, who extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes as she prepares to represent our beautiful state at Miss Grand India 2026, to be held in New Delhi on 13th May 2026.

Sneha’s journey has been truly inspiring — from being crowned Miss Teen Sikkim 2022 to earning the prestigious title of Miss Tamang World, and now stepping onto a national platform with grace and confidence.

This recognition from the Hon’ble Chief Minister is a testament to her dedication and the growing strength of Sikkim’s talent on national stages.
