Inspection SIMFED Lal Bazaar and Supermarket Outlets
Hon’ble Chairman Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia visited the SIMFED outlet at Lal Bazaar and Supermarket , Gangtok, accompanied by CGM Shri Kailash Bangdell Rai, Assistant Manager Shri Prabin Sharma and Shri Premjit Rai and other officials, to review its functioning and ongoing operations.
During the visit, a detailed inspection of the outlet was conducted, focusing on operational efficiency, product availability, and overall service delivery. Discussions were held with the officials present to identify areas for improvement and to explore measures aimed at strengthening the outlet’s performance.
A key area of focus during the inspection was the empowerment of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). It was proposed to create dedicated spaces within SIMFED outlets for the display and promotion of SHG products. This initiative is expected to enhance market access for SHGs, particularly benefiting unemployed women by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The visit also emphasized the promotion of locally grown organic produce. Plans are being advanced to provide farmers with a direct marketing platform through SIMFED outlets, enabling them to showcase and sell their products more effectively. This initiative aligns with the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, who has consistently advocated for the recognition of farmers’ contributions and the strengthening of Sikkim’s organic sector.
Hon’ble Chairman also acknowledged and appreciated the dedication and tireless efforts of the SIMFED staff, particularly those in the lower cadres, whose commitment forms the backbone of the organisation’s day-to-day functioning.
The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of SIMFED’s commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive, and self-reliant Sikkim through continued support to farmers, SHGs, and local communities.
