The two-day 18th Bishu Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival 2026 was held on January 27 and 28 at the Government High School Playground, Dhansiripar, Chümoukedima. Minister C. L. John, Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Village Guard, graced the festival as Chief Host and highlighted the importance of Bishu and the Hornbill Festival in promoting unity, reconciliation and peace among the tribes of Nagaland.
The programme featured prayers, cultural dances and the traditional Bishu feast. Short speeches were delivered by Shri Zhato Kimho, President, Chakroma Public Organisation; Shri Vikato Achumi, President, Western Sumi Hoho; Shri Thamlong Phom, President, Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union, Dimapur; and Shri C. K. Bill Mech, President, Kachari Tribe Council, Nagaland.
The second day of the festival was graced by Professor Dipak Sinha, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, along with special invitees Shri Mairing Johori, President, All Dimasa Students’ Union, and Shri Shivraj Hasnu, President, Dimasa Students’ Union, Karbi Anglong District.
