Wearing my nani’s lehenga felt like carrying a piece of her love with me.
It’s a 40-year-old zardozi piece, and from the beginning, I knew I wanted something rooted in memory and history, while still feeling true to my personal style.
I didn’t want to replace its character or transform it into something unrecognizable. The intention was always to preserve its craftsmanship, emotion, and soul while redesigning the silhouette in a way that felt more classic, and personal to me. Kajal ( a designer and my friend from NIFT) and I worked closely together to reimagine it with that balance in mind.
What made it truly special wasn’t just the outfit itself, but the feeling of wearing something that had already witnessed generations of love and family before becoming part of my own story.
