Sabha Silsile// “...everyone in Sabha- including the council- is equally dumb. The dumbness made it fun. We never actually worked, I think; we did dumb things as a society and nobody questioned our decisions- even the dumb ones- because everyone was on the same page. “

There’s no Ashima without ‘shima’, and shima you do because you’re a star!
Ashima Maria Reji is so self-aware, she puts Deadpool to shame. In fact, she’s so self-aware that she made a play about self-awareness (or lack thereof) this year. Ashima is smart, witty and responsible; she is against-the-grain, out-of-the-box and she is brave. She is a Phoenix. Another fun fact about her is that while on the one hand she’ll choose to believe that we don’t really mean these nice things we just said about her, she will, on the other hand, use this post for some good ol’ ego inflation-
And she’ll be self-aware throughout it all.
Here’s General Secretary, Ashima Maria Reji’s Sabha Silsila.

Sabha Silsile// “‘Tatti ka tukda’.
This wasn’t a dialogue. I would sometimes get late for Aadibhav practice because I used to play basketball and was also part of the College Choir.
I would tell Caro, ‘Please! Aaj nahin aa paunga!’ (Please! I won’t be able to come today!) and she would give me the gaali: ‘Ae tatti ke tukde!’ (You piece of s**t!)- and I would have to drop everything and run.”
Meet Abraham. He’s charismatic, captivating, big-brotherly but most importantly, he has a big heart. If Alina is a beacon of light to Sabha, Abraham is the anchor- the rock of the society, in his own words. He indeed is The Rock of the society- his stature is evidence enough for this.
We remember Vice President Abraham Simon () by way of his very cute, very crazy Sabha Silsila.
Swipe to relive this journey with him.

Sabha Silsile

“...It (being President) was like being a web browser with 20 tabs open at the same time and hoping that the whole system won’t come crashing down.”

Would it be too 2012 of us to say that Alina is sugar and spice and everything nice?
Alina, you have been a good, old, trusty beacon of light to Sabha. In times dark and bleak, you were the spotlight each disappointed Sabha-Waala needed. When all was sunny, your simple radiance made the day brighter still. Your leadership is inspiring. Your resilience is heartening.
Alina Sara , for the last time in her Presidential capacity, sheds light on her Sabha story.

We, the council members of Sabha, the multilingual theatre society of St.Stephen's College, are deeply disturbed and saddened with the prevailing environment of violence and insecurity in many parts of Delhi. These incidents have severely affected large groups of people and claimed the lives of quite a many. We pray for the earliest restoration of normalcy such that no more human lives are claimed.

As a society, we discussed and debated among ourselves how to cope with the present situation of tension and despair. Since many of us are not being able to directly help in relief work and reach out to people in affected areas (due to various constraints), we thought of seeking refuge in creative means of expressing solidarity.

Thus, we are reorientating our annual festival, Dastaan, so as to use theatre spaces to send out a positive message of humanity and rejection of violence as a means of conflict resolution.

Keeping in mind the financial needs of the relief workers, we are willing to cooperate with them in every possible way and so we have decided to cancel off our Dastaan dinner and minimize our decorations so as to channelize the funds into constructive relief-work. We all hope our little effort will make some difference to the lives of those who are helpless victims of the present situation of violence and unrest. Let theatre be their voice and Dastaan, the platform.
