Psychological Benefits Of Celebrating
đź’ŚCleaning and de-cluttering is a stress-buster
Cleaning the house de-clutters the mind. Clutter increases stress and de-cluttering is a stress releaser. Many theories suggest that people who constantly live in a state of chaos are prone to procrastination and an inability to commit to work or relationships. They cannot accept change and are not open to new projects. They constantly feel bad about themselves.
đź’ŚExchanging gifts boosts self-esteem
Spending money causes happiness, especially buying gifts for your loved ones. There’s something really satisfying in witnessing people unwrap a gift and respond with an innocent smile and amazement. When you gift someone, it makes you feel generous, it makes you feel in control. It’s good for your self-esteem and also for your relationship.
đź’ŚFestive season forges stronger bonds
If there is one thing that we all do during Diwali, it is going home to our parents. All of us end up spending quality time with loved ones, whether it is our parents, children, siblings or friends and family. This results in creating a stronger emotional bond and allowing better communication between family members and friends.
đź’ŚCooking reduces anxiety
Cooking is a known anti-depressant, and a treatment for depression. As the family gets involved in cooking together there is a bonding that eventually leads to happiness. And, with most of us stuck with work, kids’ homework, bill payments and loads of other work on a day to day basis, we rarely get time to bond. Diwali is one occasion when we do get together and cook. It is therefore a chance to pause, catch up and connect with each others.
đź’ŚWearing new clothes adds confidence
The clothes you wear and the way you groom yourself will change the way other people react to you. As you dress sharply during Diwali eve and wear new clothes on Diwali day, the positive reaction from friends, family and strangers will boost your well-being. Who doesn’t like a compliment, that too when it comes from your loved ones?
đź’ŚPraying calms the mind
Diwali is also the time to worship Lakshmi the Goddess of wealth. Along with Lakshmi, devotees make offerings to Ganesha, who symbolizes auspicious beginnings and removal of obstacles; Saraswati, who embodies music, literature and learning and Kuber, who symbolizes treasury and wealth management. Prayer thus helps reduce stress and anxiety, promotes a more positive outlook, and calms the mind.
Enjoy and wishing u and your family happy Diwali .
