Spandan is a three day Media Festival organized by Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication. It has been conducted annually by the students of VIPS since its inception in 2004. The word “Spandan” literally translates to "Heartbeat‟ in Sanskrit, and it signifies the fervor and passion every student of VIPS holds towards the festival. VIPS fest is a platform to college students from a

cross the nation to not only demonstrate their skills and talents but also gives them the golden opportunity to interact with media entrepreneurs and industry experts and gain invaluable practical experience. From professional workshops to media interactions, from literary events to cultural exhibits, from competitive events to artist nights - team Spandan plans to recapitulate the same success story that it has been creating since the very beginning. Spandan has always been a flag bearer of the central role of communication across individuals, cities and across borders. One of the very basic survival needs is based on the need for connection. Hence since time immemorial, we have media in our very genes, which gradually in the journey of our evolution acquired various forms through which we exchange ideas. This year, for our central theme, we wish to celebrate Traditional Media and mediums through the ages, and the roles they played in illuminating the human race with a treasure of ideas.
