“Tex Spares”, as originally known, and now “Texfair”, the concept of which was conceived by our Past Chairman, Mr.Manikam Ramaswami about 11 years ago. Mr.Vijay Venkataswamy, Past Chairman, was the architect to organize the maiden event and fulfill the long felt need of the textile mill stores and spares manufacturers / suppliers for a common platform to showcase their products and services on the

one hand and the desire of the textile mills to update with the latest technological development on the other hand. In the maiden event conducted during 2001, Tex Spares, an exhibition of textile machinery, spares and accessories, organized by The Southern India Mills’ Association during August 23-27, 2001 at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore had attracted 186 exhibitors, who showcased their products/ services. The expo became an ideal platform for the textile mills in selecting their spares and accessories suppliers and acquainting themselves with the latest innovations / developments made by the domestic manufacturers. The event helped the mills in identifying their suppliers of spares and accessories needed for the textile machines manufactured within the country and also for the imported machines in a cost effective manner. The unique nature of this expo is that it gave opportunity for the first generation SME entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services to the targeted buyers, besides the big players. The second event, Tex Spares 2004, was organized after three years’ gap at the same venue during February 5-9, 2004. The third event, Tex Spares 2006, organized after a gap of two years during July 27-31, 2006, housed 212 exhibitors and attracted 30,000 visitors. The fourth expo was organized in the next year itself during July 26-30, 2007. At this event, 234 exhibitors showcased their products and services and around 40,000 visitors visited the expo. The name of the event “Tex Spares” was changed during the year 2009 with the objective of broad basing the scope and the fifth expo was organized in the new name “Texfair” during July 24-27, 2009. During this expo 108 exhibitors exhibited their products and services and the fair attracted over 30,000 visitors. The sixth event, Texfair 2010 was organized during December 17-20, 2010 wherein 180 exhibitors had exhibited their products and services in 220 stalls and attracted around 35,000 visitors.
