As we reach the final day of our enchanting Heritage Walk series, we invite you to witness a powerful installation by Aarti Zaveri at the Bathing Ghat titled "The Cry of Kali River: Do You Care?"
The river holds a profound significance in human existence, shaping civilizations, cultures, and traditions throughout history. Kali Nadi, once an integral part of Bulandshahr with its historical ghats and close connection to daily life, has now transformed into a mere toxic stream.
In this installation, Aarti uses collected water from the Kali Nadi to create a Yantra—a symbol of ancient wisdom and positive energy. The Yantra, widely used in various parts of India, serves as a beacon of hope and understanding. By placing it on the banks of Kali Nadi, Aarti extends her installation to all those who seek to witness a vibrant flowing river that nurtures life.
Throughout history, there existed a harmonious balance between humanity and rivers, a mutual dependence that sustained life. However, in our modern age, we have lost that vital connection, resulting in the degradation and numerous environmental challenges we face today.
The colours red and black on the Yantra installation symbolize the diverse energy of the river. It stands as a celebration of its magnificence and calls upon like-minded individuals and society to intervene, to restore the beauty of coexistence between humans and the river.
This remarkable work belongs to an ongoing series initiated by artist Aarti Zaveri. Since 2016, she has been dedicated to exploring the elements, particularly water and rivers, through her art, aiming to raise awareness and foster sensitivity towards these precious resources.
Let us reflect on the vital role rivers play in our lives and the urgent need to restore their vitality. May this installation serve as a poignant reminder that it is our collective responsibility to care for and protect these lifelines of our civilization.
