Are you enquiring? Can you feel the tension in the air but aren't sure? It's time for agomoni,one of the biggest festivals of IISER Berhampur has arrived .Agomoni is not only a revered celebration of good over evil , it also heralds the start of autumn with its clear blue skies, getaways and celebrations, joyous drum beats that make you want to dance, with good food, dressing up, and spending time with your loved ones! and most importantly, it is now recognised as Intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.

Get ready to immerse yourself in the mesmerizing world of music, culture, and flavors! We cordially invite you to join us for our much-awaited Agomoni Celebration, taking place on September 30th and October 1st . We will be having diverse array of cultural programs, authentic bangali food ,competitions, and much more ...ক্রমশ প্রকাশ্য!!

This year's theme is set to amplify your excitement as we bring you "Bangla Rock Bands"an energising musical fusion that skillfully combines the diverse cultural heritage of Bengal with the unadulterated, pulsing energy of rock.Their ability to seamlessly incorporate instruments like the flute, tabla, and sitar alongside electric guitars and drums creates a distinctive sound that transcends boundaries and captures the essence of Bengal's cultural heritage while embracing the spirit of rock 'n' roll .The region's rich and varied rock music scene includes Mohiner Ghoraguli, Fossils, Cactus,Fakira,Prithibi, Chandrabindoo, Dohar, Bhoomi , Lakkhichhara , Krosswindz, Kalpurush, Poroshpathor , Eshaan ( a never ending list that's the beauty of bangla band heritage 😌)

Are u curious? Not sure but can feel the tension in the air? Something sure is happening; we present to you 'Agomoni' with a whole new dimension... Cuz this time folks, it's offline!

Aside from being a sacred welcome of the Goddess, Agomoni represents a lot of things, it is the beginning of autumn with its bright blue skies, vacations and festivities, gleeful drum beats that make you wanna dance and most importantly good food, dressing up and spending time with your favourite people!

Hello Guys,

It's time to get a break from your busy schedule and venture deep into your heart. It's time to remember those moments that you cherish forever but secretly. It's time to open your personal diary and read out the poem or story that you wrote but never dared to share. It's time to open yourself up to the world, ANONYMOUSLY.

Agomoni brings to you the event "Gopono Kothati" where you can share your thoughts, feelings, poems, confessions, short stories etc that you haven't shared with anyone else in any language. You just need to write it on a piece of paper and drop it in our Agomoni Box that you'll notice in several places in our institute and your respective hostels. You can mention your name on the paper or if you want to express your words anonymously, you are free to write a pen name or not write any name at all. The papers will be collected and we would podcast it through our YouTube channel every night at 10:00 pm from tomorrow.

So without further ado, delve into the depths of your heart and write your best compositions. Also do not forget to drop it in the Agomoni Box that you'll see in your hostels and even in the campus.

Let’s tangle your cranial nerves with mind-boggling questions with the clock ticking by your side.

This edition of Agomoni brings to your doorstep an outcast of mind-reckoning through an online quiz competition “Ghilu Ghete Gho”.The theme for the quiz competition is Indian Culture.The event will be conducted in two rounds- Prelims and Mains.

We are sure that our brainstorming questions will dig the last ounce of guesses you would ever have.
So be inquisitive and keep quizzing!

On the auspicious occasion of Agomoni 2022 at IISER Berhampur, our team is organising a
photography competition "দৃষ্টিকোন"(Drishtikone) in respect and love of Rabindranath Tagore’s famous creation 'সহজপাঠ' (Sahajpath).
Theme: “আশ্বিনের শারদপ্রাতে”
(A pleasant morning in the season of autumn)

Rules & regulations :
1. Submission must be in jpeg/jpg format
2. Picture size should be within 100mb
3. Maximum two entries of a person are allowed
4. Basic editings are allowed
5. Photograph should contain well defined subjects with caption
6.The judgement will be based on creativity and relevance to the theme (the decision of the judges will be considered as final)

Last date of submission- 9/9/22, 12 pm(noon)
This event is open to all the IISERs, NISER CEBS, and IISc students. We encourage all creative and artistic minds to come forward and take part in this amazing competition.
Winners will be given exciting prizes.

On this pleasant occasion of Agomoni in IISER Berhampur, the Agomoni team is organizing an Art competition 'নকশাকাটা' (Nakshakata) in respect and love of Rabindranath Tagore’s famous creation 'সহজপাঠ' (Sahajpath).

Topic :

" চিকচিক করে বালি
কোথা নাই কাদা
একধারে কাশবন
ফুলে ফুলে সাদা ।"

(' Adieu to the monsoon, no fields with muddy crease,
The kashbon along the riverside dances in the light breeze,
Sparkling under the bright sun with white glitz.)

Rules -

1. The entries need to be done on A5 (22cm×15cm) size paper.

2. It will be a black-and-white illustration type. (Here a sample has been attached)

3. Obviously make a normal margin around the paper.

4. No plagiarism will be appreciated.

Last date of submission - 8/9/22. (12noon)

This event is open to all the IISERs, NISER CEBS, and IISc students. We encourage all creative and artistic minds to come forward and take part in this amazing competition.

'Agomoni' literally means 'advent of something good and the preparation it'. In this case, it is for Durga puja, one of the biggest and prestigious festivals of Bengal. It is celebrated as a victory of justice over crime. It is a time to forget all worries, regional boundaries and celebrate a few days with pomp.

This year, the theme for agomoni is 'Sahaj Paath'. It is the first book, by Rabindranath Tagore, that children read while learning Bengali. Starting with alphabets, words and then onto sentences, it guides us every step of the way with beautiful black-n-white illustrations. The simplicity of it is what makes it special and nostalgic. With this we welcome you into the Bengali culture with hopes that you would participate heartily and make it a success.

Emerging from the online celebration of events for the past few years of COVID, IISER Berhampur has emerged on its journey to celebrate events in its full glory, spreading the hues of different cultures among its natives. Online events have always been painful and Agomoni was no exception.
So, this year, we are coming back to commemorate the welcoming of Maa Durga and celebrate her agomoni
