বসিরহাট শুধু একটি শহরের নাম নয়—এটি আমাদের সবার আবেগ, আমাদের ভালোবাসা, আমাদের একতার প্রতীক। এই শহরের মানুষ সব সময়ই মানুষের বিপদে পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছে, সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। আজ সেই মানবিকতার আরেকটি পরীক্ষার সময় এসেছে।
আমাদেরই বসিরহাটের ছোট্ট ছেলে সৌমজিৎ আজ জীবনের কঠিন লড়াইয়ের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে। বয়স মাত্র পাঁচ বছর। এই কোমল বয়সে যখন তার খেলা করার কথা, স্কুলে যাওয়ার কথা, বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে হাসি-আনন্দে দিন কাটানোর কথা—ঠিক তখনই তাকে লড়তে হচ্ছে একটি ভয়ঙ্কর অসুখের সঙ্গে। চিকিৎসকদের মতে, তাকে বাঁচাতে হলে জরুরি ভিত্তিতে লিভার প্রতিস্থাপন করতে হবে। আর সেই চিকিৎসার জন্য প্রয়োজন প্রায় ২৮ লক্ষ টাকা।
একটি সাধারণ পরিবারের পক্ষে এই বিপুল অর্থ জোগাড় করা প্রায় অসম্ভব। বাবা ছোট একটি দোকান চালিয়ে সংসার চালান। ইতিমধ্যে সন্তানের চিকিৎসার জন্য অনেক টাকা খরচ হয়ে গেছে। এখন তাদের সামনে যেন অন্ধকার ছাড়া আর কিছুই নেই। কিন্তু আমরা যদি সবাই মিলে একটু করে এগিয়ে আসি, তাহলে হয়তো সেই অন্ধকারের মধ্যেও আলো জ্বালানো সম্ভব।
বসিরহাটের মানুষ সব সময়ই মানবিকতার দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছে। আজ যদি আমরা প্রত্যেকে সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী সামান্য সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দিই, তাহলে হয়তো এই ছোট্ট শিশুর জীবন বাঁচানো সম্ভব। আমাদের সামান্য সহানুভূতি, সামান্য সাহায্যই তার জন্য নতুন জীবনের আশা হয়ে উঠতে পারে।

Soumajit—a little boy from our very own Basirhat—currently stands at the threshold of a grueling battle for his life. He is just five years old. At this tender age—when he should be playing, attending school, and spending his days in laughter and joy with his friends—he is instead forced to fight against a terrifying illness. According to medical experts, an urgent liver transplant is required to save his life. This critical treatment comes with a staggering cost of approximately ₹28 lakhs.
For an ordinary family, raising such a colossal sum is nearly impossible. His father supports the family by running a small shop. A significant amount of money has already been spent on the child's medical care. Now, they face a future that seems shrouded in darkness. However, if we all come forward and contribute—even just a little—it may be possible to kindle a light amidst that darkness.
The people of Basirhat have consistently set examples of profound humanity. Today, if each of us extends a helping hand—however small, and to the best of our ability—we may be able to save this little child's life. Our simple act of compassion and assistance could become the beacon of hope for a new life for him.
