One of the special things we’ve been doing at Baripada National Indigenous Short Film Festival over the last two editions is inviting filmmakers onto the stage to share their process, their struggles, and their intent of making film.

While this is a common practice in many film festivals, for the audience of Baripada, it’s something new. And they are enthusiastically taking part in discussion. It is truly beautiful, the way people have embraced it.

Questions, thoughts, and reflections are coming directly from the audience. This year, we witnessed some deeply engaging and honest interactions.

It all began with tradition…

Before the lights, before the screenings, before the applause there was a moment of grounding. A traditional ritual that connected us to our roots, our culture, and the spirit of the land we belong to. We lit the inaugural lamp and paid respect to Ol Guru Pt. Raghunath Murmu.
