A crucial meeting of the real stakeholders of the Jammu & Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) was held today at Sopore, wherein representatives from almost all District Football Associations (DFAs) and Zonal Football Associations (ZFAs) of the Kashmir Valley participated.
The meeting was convened with the objective of removing all hurdles in the smooth functioning of JKFA and ensuring the conduct of the long-awaited elections in a transparent and democratic manner.
During the meeting, all elected representatives of the DFAs and ZFAs unanimously expressed serious concern over certain individuals who have stalled football activities and delayed the JKFA elections through various court cases. The representatives, speaking in one voice, demanded that all such cases filed against JKFA be withdrawn immediately in the larger interest of football in Jammu & Kashmir.
The stakeholders collectively gave a deadline of 10 to 15 days to all concerned persons to withdraw the court cases so that the smooth functioning of JKFA and the election process can move forward without further delay.
The meeting also unanimously appealed to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to send observers for the forthcoming JKFA elections to ensure complete transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
A Coordination Committee comprising senior football representatives was also constituted to oversee and coordinate matters related to the elections and football activities. The committee will be headed by:

• Mr. Firdous Ahmad – President, DFA Zone Handwara

• Mr. Asim Aijaz – President, DFA Zone Sonawari (Media & Communications Incharge)
The stakeholders reiterated that they are fully prepared to conduct elections on the principle of “One Vote, One Club” in a free, fair, and democratic atmosphere.
Furthermore, a committee was constituted to coordinate with the AIFF regarding the alignment of the JKFA Constitution with the AIFF Constitution, the National Sports Code, and the guidelines laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their collective commitment towards the revival, development, and democratic functioning of football in Jammu & Kashmir.

It was also unanimously resolved that the stakeholders from the Jammu division will be approached and supported in the same manner, as they too are suffering due to the interference of non-footballing elements and third parties in football affairs.
