Last night, BCKA and ECA collaborated to present : Karna’s Oath at the ECA Auditorium. The production played to a capacity crowd and was received with immense acclaim, earning a standing ovation for its stellar ex*****on.
An episode from Mahabharat: Karna Shapatham starts with a scene in Duryodana's palace where his wife fears for him and his defeat in the war against Pandavas. Karna consoles her that they would return victorious. It is when Karna decides to bathe in the holy river Ganga that he sees a woman approaching him. It is Kunti devi. She reveals his true identity. After the initial shock he says he cannot abandon Duryodana and will fight for him, however she can rest assured that she will have five sons in the sense that either Arjuna or he would perish in the battle. Any suspicion by the Kauravas is removed by Karna's oath that he will stand by Duryodana irrespective of the result.
Important roles were played eminent artistes like Kalamandalam Rajshekharan (Kunthi), Vaishakh Rajshekharan (Karna) Duryodhana (Priya Nambudhri), Arun Kumar (Dushassana) and Mithila Jayan (Bhanumati)
