আমাদের পুজো, আমরা পুজো

It was 25th August and we were helplessly staring at “আমাদের পুজো” (our Puja) not happening this year at Manpho. Manpho Pujo has become the biggest Durga Puja over the last two years and we couldnt just let it fade away. Friends who’ve never thought of Pujo outside Bangalore for years were booking trips out of Bangalore because আমাদের পুজো possibly wasn’t happening. Dhaakis, purohits, partners and sponsors were frantically calling and asking - আমাদের পুজো is not happening this year? The answer had to be yes and only yes and hence Manpho Pujo, yet again, three years in a row. We are the Puja, and the Puja is ours and we wont let lust & greed for power, petty politics and nepotism come in between Ma and us. Hence this Pujo, hence us.

On 25th August we decided we will form the Bengaluru Durga Puja Committee Trust and continue আমাদের পুজো at Manpho Convention Centre. Being right next to Bangalore’s biggest tech hub also required us to be truly cosmopolitan and magnanimous, which we’ll aspire to be. It was the boldest decision in our life as we know we have only six weeks to win against all odds. Yet we embarked on it and glad we did. আমাদের পুজো not only gives an opportunity to techies to have bhog during their lunch breaks, elders to have their bhog comfortably and youngsters to hang around for hours. Possibly it even inspired others to uphold their several decades of tradition and heritage. At the end, its win win for all.
