We are thrilled to welcome Sheehan Beowulf at the Ajanta Ellora Arts Residency. He will be dividing his time between Ch.Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) and Mumbai.
Sheehan is a photographer of figures in the arts and humanities. To date, he’s photographed better than 1,000 writers from more than 60 countries, and his work has been published (in the likes of Esquire, The New Yorker, Time, Vanity Fair, and Vogue) and exhibited (at institutions such as the Dostoevsky Museum, International Center of Photography, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture) globally. Among his notable subjects are Joe Biden, Bono, Stephen Colbert, Hugh Jackman, Cormac McCarthy, Toni Morrison, Yoko Ono, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, and Donna Tartt. Author: The Portraits of Beowulf Sheehan, a collection of portraits of 200 writers from 35 countries with a foreword by Salman Rushdie, was published in 2018. Beowulf Sheehan lives in New York City.
