Volunteer applications for 2027 are now open. COME BE PART OF THE FAMILY. 🌿

A festival is never just the people on stage.

It’s the people who arrive early.
The people who stay back.
The ones who make sure things keep running, people are happy, the sound is crisp and the vibes are immaculate.

Goa Sunsplash is built by its volunteer family, and we’re looking for vibe curators, creative problem-solvers, community builders, music lovers, dreamers and all-round good people to join our team for 2027.

Meet the people behind the music. Work alongside artists, crew and reggae heads from around the world. Get to know the faces and stories of the people who have helped build Sunsplash, year after year.

And become a part of it all.

Reggae in India may still be a small and growing story, but every year, we build it together with the help of those who believe in the music and the culture. This is your opportunity to step behind the scenes and help bring it all to life.

Come help us build the next chapter of Goa Sunsplash.

You might leave with more than memories.
You might leave with a family. ❤️💛💚

UK Sound System culture history on Indian soil🇬🇧🇮🇳

Nobody saw this coming. Not even us.
Reggae legend Macka B performed a full live show with a band on day one and could have called it a day. Instead he stayed. Day two, last set of the night, UK dub legends OBF and Iration Steppas deep into their showcase, and he decided to step up. No rehearsal, no plan, just years of skill and finesse on the sound.

First time these two have shared a stage in decades. And it happened in India. 🔥🔥🔥🤪

This is the part you cannot put on a poster. You can book the artists, build the stages, stack the systems and plan the running order down to the minute, and then something happens that nobody wrote down. An elder decides the night is not finished. A room full of people realises in real time that they are watching something that will never happen again.

These are the moments we chase. The ones that only happen at Sunsplash. Because of what this place does to people. Artists arrive as guests and leave as family. There is no backstage hierarchy, no rush. Everyone stays, everyone gets comfortable. Everyone wants to give their best. That is the ground these moments grow out of, you cannot manufacture it.

Send this to the person you want standing next to you when the next one happens.

And come join us in January.

Goa sunsplash’s moment ✨

One of the biggest reggae bands the world has ever produced, and their lead singer on our stage.

David Hinds founded Steel Pulse in 1975 with schoolfriends in Handsworth, Birmingham. They became the first non-Jamaican act ever to win a Grammy for Best Reggae Album. Nine nominations across their career. Debut record Handsworth Revolution still stands as one of the great British reggae albums.

They toured with The Clash. They supported The Police and The Stranglers. When reggae and punk found each other in the late seventies, Steel Pulse were standing directly in the middle of it.
Fifty years on, they are still touring the world and still selling out spaces.

One of their biggest tunes, Chant a Psalm, came out of a period when the band were reading scripture and building songs from it. Hinds has said it was really just a note to himself, a reminder that he did not have to be down and out because there was always a psalm to chant.

His first time in India. Our absolute honour.

Indian influence on Rastafarianism.
Cultural researcher Joavan Puran Artist maps the story.

After emancipation, the British brought thousands of indentured labourers from India to Jamaica. They say most never went home. They arrived carrying their food, their language, their spiritual practice, the herb, and they settled beside communities carrying their own.

Leonard Howell, one of the founding figures of the movement, published his early writings under the name Gangunguru Maragh, drawn from Hindi and Sanskrit.

You can taste it in the food. You can hear it in the vocabulary. You can see it in the parallels between the sadhu and the Rastaman, both stepping outside a society they refused to accept.

Scholars debate how much arrived and how much was already there. But the meeting did occur.

Thoughts?

Coming solo to Goa Sunsplash? A perfectly good plan.

You get there, stand at the edge of a crowd next to the sea, holding your things, very aware of your own hands.
It lasts about an hour. Maybe less.

Someone says hello. Someone offers you water. A stranger tells you the bass hits better on the left side and they are correct.
By the time it’s evening, you stop being a person at a festival and become part of something. You learn names. You share food. You lose each other in the crowd and find each other again, which feels absurdly like destiny at midnight.

This is not an exaggeration. We have watched it happen for 10 years. Friendships that started at the coupon counter. Couples who met in front of the soundsystem. Entire crews who now travel together every January and cannot remember a Sunsplash before each other, who all arrived separately the first year.

The music is why you come. The people are why you come back.

So if you have been holding off because you haven’t found anyone to come with, come anyway.
Buy the one ticket. Turn up and let your Sunsplash family find you. 💛

Luciano live in India for the very first time.

There are artists you grow up listening to, artists whose names become part of your understanding of the music, and then there are the rare moments when they are standing in front of you, singing those songs back into the night.

For Goa Sunsplash 2026, we had Jah Messenjah Luciano Messenjah himself.

A voice that has travelled across decades of reggae music, carrying roots, culture, faith and consciousness to audiences all over the world, finally made its way to India. And judging by the scenes we saw that day, this was a moment a lot of people had been waiting for. You had to take a second and look around to really believe it.

Still feels surreal as we gear up for the next edition already.

Our most loved video from the festival. Fast Food Live with Macka B 💥

If you found him through the food videos, you know that you arrived very late to the party.

One of Britain’s most influential reggae artists, Macka B came out of the 80s’ UK sound system scene and has built a body of work rooted in Rastafari and conscious lyricism. He has recorded across England, Jamaica, America, Africa and Europe, and shared stages with foundational artists like Burning Spear, U-Roy, The Wailers and Lee Perry.

Sound system sessions, chart-topping albums, viral internet sensation, he has done it all.

Twice we have had Macka B on the Sunsplash stage. Twice the whole place has come alive in a way few artists can make happen.

You don’t know you need a reggae song about ital food until Macka B sings it to you.
Show some love to the elder.

Every year we bring the artists who have shaped the music we listen to today. Get your tickets if you want to be in the room with the next legend.

Ten years of bringing artists who create unforgettable moments by connecting with the crowd in a way only reggae music can.

Marcus Gad is one of the finest roots voices working today and watching him hold that crowd was a reminder of why we do this so carefully. We do not book names. We curate a feeling.

This is what people fly across the world for. Not just the music, but the feeling of being one with voices like

Every phase so far has sold out faster than the last. Tickets are limited to venue capacity and we hit it last year. This year is moving quicker.

Keep cool and get your tickets. 🎟️ First Wave live. Link in bio.
