What is up fellow melophiles of MNNIT!
We are back with a bigger and better Musical Meet this semester and it is going to be a sight to see.

You've got talent to prove, we've got a platform for you. Come and witness the music scene with us.
The events that will be held are Solo Singing, Duet Singing and Battle of Bands.

That's right, we have Duet Singing this semester. You asked and we have answered.

Event - Solo Singing
1. Both Hindi and English songs are allowed.
2. Preliminary round will be held before the event.

Rules (Solo Singing) [Prelims]:
1. Participants have to perform 1 song in the time period of 3 mins.
2. Participants are required to bring their own karaoke.
3. In place of karaoke, participants are allowed to bring one accompanying instrumentalist if they wish. They can also play their own instrument if they want to. None of these is a compulsion in any way, i.e participants can sing without any karaoke or instrument.
4. No backing vocals.
5. Decision of the judges will be final and binding in all cases.

Judging Criteria:
1. Only singing will be the judging criteria for the prelims. This will include selection of appropriate scale and pitch accuracy.

Even - Duet Singing
1. Both Hindi and English songs are allowed.
2. Preliminary round will be held before the event.

Rules (Duet Singing) [Prelims]:
1. The participants have to perform 1 song in a time duration of 3 mins.
2. Participants are required to bring their own karaoke.
3. In place of karaoke, one of the duo is allowed to play an instrument if they want to, but, they must not compromise on the vocals.
4. Decision of the judges will be final and binding in all cases.

Judging Criteria:
1. Only singing will be the judging criteria for the prelims. This includes the selection of appropriate scale and pitch accuracy.

Event - Battle of Bands
1. Both Hindi and English songs are allowed.
2. Any given member CANNOT be a part of two or more bands.
3. There are NO prelims for this event.

Rules:
1. Time duration that will be given is 10+2 mins. 10 mins performing and 2 min soundcheck.
2. Time limit is to be strictly followed.
3. Decision of the judges will be final and binding in all cases.

Judging Criteria:
1. Overall mix of the song being performed.
2. Level of difficulty, vocal/instrumental ability, rhythm, tonal quality, coordination between team members and overall performance.
3. Improvisation, ingenuity, and creativity will be given extra credit. However, Original Compositions altogether will carry substantially higher weight.
4. Originality Innovation in the interpretation of work, presenting self compositions.
5. Emotion and overall impact.
6. FOR VOCALS - Pitch accuracy and voice modulation.
7. FOR INSTRUMENTS - Tuning, clarity, precision and tonal quality.

Rules (Solo Singing) [Prelims]:
1. Participants have to sing a song of their own choice.
2. Time limit: 3 minutes
3. The participant can bring a karaoke (singalong track) or can play an accompanying instrument him/herself or can bring one accompanying instrumentalist. However, none of these is a compulsion, i.e. the participant is free to sing without any accompaniment or music if he/she chooses to.
4. Maximum 1 accompanist allowed. If the participant wishes to use karaoke, the track of it must be handed over to the event managers beforehand.
5. No backing vocals are allowed.
6. Songs in Hindi or English language are allowed.
7. The decision of the judges and organizers shall be final and binding in all cases.

Judging criteria: Only singing will be the judging criteria for the prelims. This will include the selection of appropriate scale and pitch accuracy.

Note: - The rules and judging criteria for the finals of Solo Singing will be posted after the prelims.

Rules (Battle of Bands):
1. Participants: Minimum 3 and a maximum of 8 members in the band. A band member CANNOT be a part of any other band.
2. There will be only one round in this event.
3. Time limit: 10 + 5 minutes (10 minutes performing time and 5 minutes for soundcheck)
4. Instruments provided: Drum kit, Synthesizer
5. Participants will not be provided with sustain/damper pedals. They are expected to bring any such additional accessories they require.
6. Language English, Hindi or a mixture of both.
7. The decision of the Judges shall be final and binding in all cases.

Judging criteria:
1. Level of difficulty, vocal/instrumental ability, rhythm, tonal quality, coordination between team members and overall performance.
2. Improvisation, ingenuity, and creativity will be given extra credit. However, Original Compositions altogether will carry substantially higher weightage.
