11(EGARO) is an out of the box, first of its kind photo exhibition/festival that is being organised by our group ‘Boinari’. We aim at creating a platform for showcasing talents of some brilliant creative minds in photography. 11 is a budding initiative whose primary goal is to bring, out of the box ideas and perception of artists through photography.
11(EGARO) is so called because of its motto of

displaying the works of 11 photographers. Our team aims at taking 11 to a next level in the state of
Tripura by organising this photo festival every year,
with the vision of creating something different every
the year that people do hardly get to see. We look forward
to making it a bigger event and perhaps one of the best
photo festivals of India

Vivek Singh has extensively documented conflict and displacement in Northeast India. In the region he has extensively worked in Western Assam, the Hills of Manipur, the Indo-Burma border in Nagaland and in the Bru IDP camp of Naisingpara in Tripura.

A recipient of The Manuel Rivera Grant for Documentary Photography, his work has been widely commissioned and published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Columbia Journalism Review, Los Angeles Times, Al Jazeera, CNN, Der Speigel, The Caravan Magazine to name a few.

He was one of the earliest supporters of Egaro Festival and was the first ever artist to deliver a talk on our dais- his multimedia presentation and photo projection received a standing ovation at our venue.

The Trustees of Boinari Foundation and the members of Egaro Photo Festival are deeply saddened and offer our heartfelt condolences. Vivek left behind a long legacy of imagery and stories, a selected portion of which can be viewed at www.viveksinghphoto.com

Meet our incredible Young Archivists behind Out in the Sun— an ongoing project supported by the Art South Asia Project Archival Grant ( ), that uplifts storytelling, people’s narratives, and community histories from the region.

These emerging archivists are not just helping archive stories—they’re reshaping how we remember and preserve visual storytelling. Rooted in lived experiences and local knowledge, their work centers joy, history, regional politics, and intergenerational wisdom.

Stay tuned as we spotlight the archival fragments they’re helping preserve, and the futures they are imagining.

We are thrilled to announce Cross Cat Collective, an independent collective of comix crew from Tripura known for their self published comics, zines and graphic novels, as a collaborator for Out in the Sun Archival Project. This collaboration has been made possible by the support of the Art South Asia Project (ASAP) Archival Grant 2024-2025.

Our archival project aims to build a visual narrative of the region capturing its evolving demographics and frontier dynamics through family archives and personal stories. Cross Cat Collective’s dedication to storytelling and community engagement aligns seamlessly with the vision, promising a rich and inclusive archival endeavour.

Excited to share glimpses from our visit to the Legacy Media: Digitisation and Cataloguing Workshop organized by the Northeast India AV Archive () from March 6th to 7th, 2025!

As part of the ongoing ‘Out in the Sun’ archive project, supported by the ASAP archiving grant, this workshop was an insightful dive into digitization processes and cataloguing methods for various audiovisual materials. From hands-on learning to engaging discussions, it was an enriching experience alongside fellow collaborators—This is Lamka (), TalkeOne Production House(), Center for Karbi Studies() and Prologue Library & Bookstore.

Behind the Scenes: Archiving

At Egaro Photo Festival, we are diving deep into the past to preserve the stories of our heritage through Out in the Sun, a project made possible by the ASAP 2024-25 Archiving Grant.
This initiative is all about capturing the essence of culture and history through visual media—documenting traditions, communities, and moments that have shaped who we are today.

Swipe through to catch our team in action: gathering photographs, interviewing storytellers, and cataloging invaluable fragments of history. From dusty photo albums to hidden treasures in forgotten corners, we’re piecing together a visual archive that celebrates the richness of our collective memory.
