New Year, New Name: From Kids4Peace to Seeds of Peace Jerusalem
Kids4Peace Jerusalem was born in 2001, as the optimism of the Oslo Accords was fading and when fighting and bombings ravaged our city. Amid this climate of hatred and fear, a group of Jerusalem parentsโJewish, Christian and Muslimโcame together to create a new reality.
These parents had courage and deep faith. They believed that a better future was possible for their children, for their peoples, and for the city they call home. There were other youth peace programs at the time, but none specifically designed for the ages of their kids, and very few for families with faith commitments like theirs. These families wanted a place to be religiously engaged and pro-peace at the same time.
Initially, this new initiative was sponsored by the Anglican Church in Jerusalem. Dr. Henry Ralph Carse, a gifted theologian, teacher and pilgrim guide, was the Founding Director of Kids4Peace, with St. Georgeโs College Jerusalem providing a safe gathering place and institutional support.
In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kids4Peace merged with Seeds of Peace, an international organization dedicated to the pursuit of peaceful change in communities divided by conflict, with over 8,000 alumni across the world.
In 2026, we will make this merger permanent by officially changing our name to Seeds of Peace Jerusalem.
