Event FAQs!

What equipment do I need for the race?

Bring your own bicycle and helmet (unless reserved). Helmets are required for the kayak and cycle legs.
Bring your own water bottles.
Personal kayaks are not allowed.

Are there any age restrictions?

66km, 39km, and 38km Dual Courses: Must be 18+.
21km Challenge: Open to 12+, but under 18s must be with an adult.

Where can I park?

Plenty of on-site parking at Russborough House for €4, which supports property upkeep.
What kind of bike do I need?

The cycle legs are mostly on minor roads; we recommend a road bike or hybrid.
Electric bikes are allowed but won’t be included in competitive results.

New to October 2024 is our exciting team event! Teams of 4 will participate in this relay with one person cycling, two team members kayaking, and one runner. Can your team tackle Splash N Dash?

Event Overview:
- **Starting Point:** Russborough
- **Team Composition:** 4 members
- **Cyclist (first leg):** 8 km
- **Kayakers (two members):** 1.5 km
- **Runner:** 10 km
- **Cyclist (final leg):** 13.5 km

Introducing the 74KM Experience, our biggest challenge yet! 💪

The course starts with a short 6km cycle to Burgage, where you will leave your bikes and kayak 2km to Russellstown Bay. 🛶 Follow the Greenway for 4.5km back to your bike. 🚴‍♂️ Then, cycle 30km through scenic landscapes before you come to the forest run which will test your muscles as you run a 9.5km lap of Lugnagun. 🏃‍♂️ Finally, jump back on the bikes for the final 10km stretch back to Russborough House. 🚴‍♀️

This is not just a race, it’s an adventure! Navigate through the courses, follow the signs at main junctions, and enjoy marshalled transitions. Are you up for the challenge? 🤩

Route Information - Saturday, October 5th

27 km Challenge

Our 27km route is perfect for families or anyone looking to try adventure racing!

🏃‍♂️ Run: Start with a scenic 4km run around the beautiful grounds of Russborough House.
🚴‍♀️ Cycle: Next, hop on your bike for a 19.5km ride to the kayak transition at Russellstown Bay.
🚣‍♂️ Kayak: Enjoy a 500m paddle in a double kayak.
🚴‍♂️ Cycle: Finish with a 2.5km bike ride back to Russborough.

Participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
