The GO NEON Wicklow Town is all about having fun while enjoying the benefits of exercise and achieving your goals. The event starts and finishes in the environs of The Rowing Club Wicklow Town and follows a well lit out and back loop along the paved section of the Murrough coastline and the Wicklow Town Port Road before the 2.5Km turn at Knockrobin. Our Neon Wonderland will open at 6:30pm an hour
before the run starts, giving you the opportunity to touch up your face paints, glow in our music area, while listening to great music and capturing the moment in the GO NEON selfie room ready for the brightest 5K you'll ever run. SOUNDS GREAT, HOW DO I SIGN UP? Registration is open – we’re expecting this to be sell-out event so don’t miss out on your chance to take part. We really encourage you to make this a family event and have a range of entry fees to reflect this. Your entry fee includes your access to the music zone before and after the race, running chip and number and some goodies to get you glowing. What is the route of the run? The event starts and finishes in the environs of Crossfit Wicklow beside the Rowing Club on Bath Street and follows an back loop along the paved section of the Murrough coastline and the new Port Road before the halfway turning point of 2.5K at Knockrobin. The route will have public lighting throughout. The route will be well signed and marshalled. A route map will follow shortly. What is the terrain like? The run has been designed for all ages and fitness levels and is very much about having fun rather than racing. We do appreciate some runners will be hoping for a PB and will endeavour to make this possible. The route will be a mixture of the paved areas paths and cycle lanes. We advise if you want to run it and are not currently a runner to do some training in preparation and wear sensible, comfortable and supportive trainers. Encourage family and friends to help you get fit. How long will the run take? The run is not a race and there will be no pressure to finish within a certain time. We anticipate that it will take anything from thirty minutes to one hour to complete. Run, dance, skip, walk your way around and most of all enjoy yourself! What happens if I cannot finish the run? If you cannot finish the run and feel you might need to stop, you may pull out at any point. Please tell your nearest volunteer marshal who will be able to assist you. If you need to pull out please notify us so that we know that you are safe. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on, fully charged and with plenty of credit on it. The route will be marshalled, signed and takes place on wide traffic free pathways. Will there be anywhere to leave valuables? Unfortunately there are no facilities to store your possessions so please do make sure that you only bring essential items with you. Will there be first aid facilities? We will have first aiders available at the Neon Wonderland and out on the route of the run. Will there be toilets on the route? Toilet facilities will be available at the start and the end of the route only. What should I wear? We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers! Blisters are not fun for anyone. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to run in are well-worn in. Comfortable bottoms to run in are also important; shorts, leggings or trousers. Whatever you prefer. Can we run as a group? Absolutely. When registering as a group each participant needs to fill in their own form. Can I use the event to raise money for charity? We will have suggestions on how to go about raising money for charity on our website shortly. What time can I arrive? We’re still finalising timings for the night and will update you on these asap. Can I bring my dog? Unfortunately dogs are not able to join in on this event. How old do I need to be? Entry for the GO NEON RUN 5K is open to entrants aged 12 and over. An adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged under 16 for the duration of the run and we must have a signed parental consent form filled in by each under 16’s legal parent or guardian at the time of registration.
