A fantastic day today in Croke Park for a ‘Learning Together, Learning Communities, Learning Neighbourhoods’ event as part of Shared Ireland funding.

A strong Waterford Learning City contingent here to exchange ideas, build relationships across the island of Ireland, and learn from other learning neighbourhoods.

Thank you to lifelong learner and resident Nuala Colfer, John Hearne representing Larchville/Lisduggan. Residents Association and Sarah Jane Duggan Community Development worker Buíon Phort Láirge for joining a panel to talk about our first pilot Learning Neighbourhood in the Parish, the reasons why it was chosen as a leading example locally and nationally, and the further benefits we hope a learning neighbourhood will bring to the wider community.

Hopefully the beginnings of many Learning Neighbourhoods for Waterford Learning City!

Up for a challenge? Why not try our Lifelong Learner Scavenger Hunt!
Our Lifelong Learner Scavenger Hunt, designed for young and old alike, is a way to explore the city while engaging with the festival.

If you have extra time, engage with existing walking trails along the way such as the Quaker Trail in Cultural Quarter, and Waterford Digital Story Trail

The Scavenger hunt will be available on our website, and in central Library. in paper format and will go ‘live’ the week of the festival. 🧐🧐

SING FOR JOY!
Yesterday evening was the official kick off off to our Waterford Lifelong Learning Festival.
On an evening where the weather could be a deterrent, Ardkeen Library was bustling with sparkle, energy, talent, and in the spirit of lifelong learning, a crowd who were willing to give a bit of singing ago!

Míle Buíochas to the Solas Cancer Support Centre Choir, Soloists, and SETU Music School students and alumni.
Led by the phenomenal SETU Music School Coordinator Julie, Sing for Joy captured the essence of lifelong learning, and is a wonderful example of intergenerational learning! ♥
