We are thrilled to launch the programme for Waterford Chamber Music Festival 2026, taking place from 24-26 July 2026 in Mount Congreve House and Gardens.
With its wide-ranging blend of established masterworks, new commissions, young artist development, and innovative programming, Waterford Chamber Music Festival 2026 offers audiences a deeply engaging and intimate musical experience in one of Ireland’s most beautiful cultural settings.
The festival opens with a unique and immersive Musical Promenade through the gardens of Mount Congreve. Audiences will be guided through scenic locations, encountering solo performances interspersed with nature-inspired spoken word. A highlight of this event will be the world premiere of a newly commissioned work for solo French horn, composed by Seán Ó Dálaigh.
We shine a spotlight on talented young performers in our Young Artists’ Recital, and deepen our audience engagement through a pre-concert talk by Dr Sophie Lee.
Sunday’s programme opens with Sean-nós in a New Style, an innovative project by Irish composer and pianist Seán Morgan-Rooney. Drawing on his roots in traditional Irish music and classical training, Morgan-Rooney reimagines ten sean-nós songs as art songs for voice and piano. Performed with internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean, this promises to be a special concert.
We feature the best of Irish and international chamber musicians in our three main concert programmes curated with something for everyone: stirring masterworks of Brahms and Schumann, beloved works of J.S Bach and Mozart, interesting gems from the pens of Amy Beach, Bohuslav Martinů and much, much more…!
The festival concludes with a colourful and celebratory wind-focused concert featuring Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds, alongside works by Florence Price, Paul Hindemith, and the lively, witty compositions of Jean Françaix.
