Cancellation of The Promenade Festival 2019
It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that The Tramore Events Team announce the Promenade Festival 2019 must be cancelled.
We have taken the decision following an increase in insurance and general costs.
The Board of Directors understand and share the disappointment that this news brings to Tramore and the surrounding areas, plus the annual visitors who come to our town for the festival.
The event has always been run on a not-for-profit basis and does not have the funding to match the recent increases.
While the Tramore event has not been subject to insurance litigation, a lot of smaller festivals are bearing the brunt from a general increase in claims across the festival sector.
Our decision was based on the following:
1. Increased insurance costs and restrictions.
2. Increased Health & Safety compliance.
3. Lack of volunteers.
4. Lack of local business support.
We would like to thank Billy Duggan and his team in Waterford City Council for all their help and financial support over the years, also the Tramore Amusement & Leisure Park, The Tramore Chamber of Tourism and Commerce, Brooklyn Restaurant, Moe's Cafe, O'Shea's Hotel for their sponsorship. Last but by no means least, I would personally like to thank The Tramore Events Team for their hard work and the many, many people that have volunteered with us down through the years. It has been a fantastic experience for us all.
