A BURSARY of €3,500 is up for grabs for budding filmmakers as the Disappear Here Film Club in Clonmany launches its annual Donegal Short Documentary Film Bursary.

Now in its third year, the initiative invites local creatives to pitch fresh documentary ideas
exploring themes of global justice, with the winning filmmaker receiving support to bring
their project to life in 2026.

The bursary is delivered through a partnership between ChangeMakers Donegal at the
Inishowen Development Partnership, the Disappear Here Film Festival, based at the Market House in Clonmany, and funder Concern Worldwide.

Local storytellers are invited to submit proposals that link Donegal experiences with global issues, reflecting the shared mission of ChangeMakers Donegal and Concern Worldwide to foster global citizenship, empathy and awareness.

The successful applicant will receive financial backing and mentoring to produce a short documentary to be filmed in Donegal in
2026.

This year’s bursary has risen to €3,500, generated through box office income from the popular Disappear Here Film Club and supported through Concern Worldwide’s Global Citizenship Education Grants Fund.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 31 March 2026 at 3pm.

We're heading down memory lane, are you coming?
All the way back to 1957 for Rathmullan Pier Opening before stopping off at Innistrahull, an island almost forgotten in Ireland (except for the people of north Inishowen) in two short films by Lynch Snr
Hopping off the island and heading over to Patsy McInaw, or as you might know him Patsy: Man of Stone. Seen through the eyes of nine year old Sarah McInaw, we see the dedication, skills and insights of her grandfather - who has built over 2 miles of dry stone wall on his farm in this short directed by Michael McMonagle.
We'll end the afternoon right back where we started at Rathmullan in a short documentary on the restoration of the Abbey, also made by Lynch.
SCREENING IN SVP THURSDAY 2PM.

But why stop there? Keep the nostalgia going over an evening pint in The White Harte and a screening of Arthur Lynch's Sea Angling Festival (1972) documentary.
SCREENING IN THE WHITE HARTE THURSDAY 7PM.

What a Thursday, see you there!
Head to rathmullan.ie/filmfest for bookings and full programme!
