Here's another clip from 'A Meath Miscellany' screening tomorrow evening at 7.30 at the Solstice Arts Centre
This is a story from Gael Linn's 'Amharc Γireann' newsreel which also features new housing estates in Trim and a Fleadh Rince in Oldcastle.
There's also a lavish American dramatisation of St. Patrickβs trial at Tara, footage from the 1949 All-Ireland Football Final when Meath claimed a dramatic victory over Cavan & the colour of Butlins holidaymakers captured on film.
Local pianist Aodhamair Reilly will provide live musical accompaniment for the silent films in the programme, creating a unique and immersive cinematic experience for audiences.
The screening will be introduced by Sunniva OβFlynn, Head of Irish Film Programming at the Irish Film Institute (IFI) who will provide insight into the films and the work of the Irish Film Archive in preserving Irelandβs rich audiovisual heritage.
