Lixnaw Community Games:
Athletics Evening: Last Friday Lixnaw Community Games held their annual Sports Evening in pleasant sunshine. Medals were awarded on the podium to the first three competitors crossing the finishing line. Tiny Tots and Under 6's also received medals, some taking their first run down the home straight. Children who won first and second place now proceed to the County Finals at the end of June. To conclude, the night finished with the traditional novelty events, comprising of egg and spoon races, sack races and a tug o'war. Children went home happy with ice cream cones in hand.
Lixnaw Community Games would like to thank Brian Mannion for doing MC on the night. Brian always brings good fun to the event with his commentary and warm-up routines for the children. Thanks also to Niamh Mannion for her help in making sure Brian was briefed on all updates during the event. Also thanks to Declan of 'It's My Party' who provided the much needed ice-cream and refreshments to the kids, as well as the parents. We would also like to thank the field management team at St. Senan's for allowing us the use of the pitch again this year. Thanks are also due to Eamon McElligott and Tom Galvin who lined the pitch and to all our helpers on the night. We couldn't do it without you. Finally, thanks to all the parents and children who turned out for the event and supported Community Games in the parish. MÃle buÃochas.
