The inaugural Limerick Jazz Festival took place on the weekend of September 28 - 30th 2012, and featured exclusive performances by the Joe Locke/Geoffrey Keezer Group from the USA and the Lianne Carroll Trio from the UK. Limerick has the most active jazz scene in Ireland outside Dublin. Limerick Jazz Society has been bringing outstanding jazz performances to the city since the 1980s and Limerick J

azz Workshop has been providing jazz education since 2007. The festival is being staged by Limerick Jazz Society and is supported by the Arts Council and Shannon Development. We are delighted to launch Young Irish Jazz Musician 2026 !

Limerick Jazz is delighted to host Young Irish Jazz Musician 2026 at University Concert Hall, Limerick on Sunday, 22 Nov 2026.

Finalists from across Ireland will perform live with a professional house band before an expert panel and audience.

The winner will perform at the internationally renowned Limerick Jazz Festival and receive a €1,000 bursary to support their musical career.

Open to Irish musicians aged 16–23.
