It has been an incredibly difficult week for all of us as we come to terms with the sad loss of our Chairperson, John Keenan; a dear friend, a wonderful neighbour and a true cornerstone of our community.
Since establishing Laragh Heritage in 2012 we have worked closely together to conserve and lovingly restore St Peter’s Tin Church - our collective pride and joy. From fundraising to commemorating we were truly blessed to share the journey with John. We leaned on one another, we learned from one another and we grew stronger together. In the truest sense of church and community, we became a family and we are absolutely heartbroken to lose one of our own.
As we all know John could turn his hand to anything and he did willingly and always with a smile. He had an unwavering passion for community, for heritage and for vintage memorabilia. Our events were enriched by John and his Lisdoonan Vintage crew who willingly offered their support and their equipment for our collective community benefit. Yesterday afternoon we stood in solidarity as Johns funeral cortège made its way home through Laragh. We comforted one another and shared fond memories of John that will sustain us in the difficult days ahead.
Like many before him John is etched into the story of St Peter’s Tin Church and into the fabric of Laragh Heritage. John’s legacy will live with us and continue to guide us. Truth be told we miss him already xx
We extend our deepest sympathies to John’s beloved family; his wife Mary and his daughters Angela, Helen, Maria, Margaret and Lorraine his much-loved grandchildren, his brother Lorcan and his sisters Catherine and Dympna.
Go ndéana an Rí A Mhaith air agus go dtóga sé cian dá mhuintir a d'fhág sé ina dhiaidh. ❤️🙏
