It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Seán Ó Sé.
For generations at Puck Fair, there were moments that felt bigger than a festival. The raising of King Puck. The town packed tight. Then the first words of An Poc Ar Buile and Seán leading the crowd like only he could.
Seán did not just perform at Puck Fair. He was part of it. Nearly fifty years of coming to Killorglin, giving the song back to the people, and turning it into a tradition that families passed down the same way they pass down stories.
Puck Fair meant something special to Seán too. He spoke often about the atmosphere, the warmth, and the feeling of rural Ireland at its best. You could tell it was never just another booking. It was homecoming.
We will miss him deeply. But every time that song starts, in the middle of August, with the town looking up at the stand, a piece of Seán will still be there.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
