Formed in 2010 by Christine Scarry, Red Alchemy Theatre Company is based in the heart of Kilkenny City, although its performance locations remain flexible.

We love to explore contemporary work, with a special interest in producing niche ensemble pieces.

Through innovative interpretations and high-calibre performances, we bring audiences on a memorable voyage into the magic of live theatre, making art that is engaging, emotionally powerful and accessible to all.

Red Alchemy Voice Studio is Christine Scarry’s private vocal practice (operating since 1995). She has a proven track record in contributing to the success of actors and singers: her clients have played leading roles on Broadway, the West End, and in major Irish venues including The Abbey and The Gate Theatres. We are beyond excited to announce that Broadway and West End star, Rachel Tucker, will close The Sondheim Festival 2025 with a concert at the Watergate Theatre on Sunday, 16th February https://www.watergatetheatre.com/whats-on/events/an-audience-with-rachel-tucker

The Olivier-nominated actress is currently starring as Persephone in Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre in London, following her performance in Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre, playing the lead role of Norma Desmond alongside Nicole Scherzinger. Prior to that, she starred in Come From Away on Broadway, playing the role of Annette/Beverley Bass, the role she originated in London and which earned her an Olivier Nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical in 2019.

Rachel became best known for her interpretation of Elphaba in London’s West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Theatre. After playing the role for three years and over one thousand performances, she became the show’s longest running consecutive ‘Green Witch’ and, as a consequence, was invited to play Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway.

In 2014, Rachel made her Broadway debut in Sting’s original musical The Last Ship, in which she originated the role of Meg Dawson, and she can be heard on the original cast recording of The Last Ship performing with Sting. Rachel is also known for her roles in Rent and We Will Rock You. Her latest album You’re Already Home was released in November 2023.
