The Ballygar Carnival Committee are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Andy Connor.

One of the best-known characters of Ballygar and a real hard worker, never more so than during carnival time.

Andy was a man who took great pride in his community, making sure the town was perfectly swept. He was always there to lend a hand and ensure everything was ship-shape.

We extend our condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Weโ€™re pleased to introduce our new Ballygar Carnival logo! ๐Ÿ˜

This update was about creating something a bit more modern while still keeping a connection to the branding of previous years. The colour purple remains a key part of the identity, as it has been used across printing, merchandise and digital media for many years. The pink, blue and yellow gradients lean into the bright, summer festival feel. The fonts prioritise boldness, clarity and legibility, but with enough character to feel in-keeping with the Carnival atmosphere.

The radial symbol, loosely inspired by a firework, reflects the Carnival as one of the biggest events in our community. As it expands outwards it picks up on familiar elements, like the spinning movement of a ferris wheel or carousel, and the splayed layout of a tent or marquee seen from above.

As Ireland's longest running carnival, the overall circular shape ties into the annual nature of the Carnival, and its continuity since 1945, spanning many generations. The surrounding ring of dots and star shapes is inspired by the people, ideas, and wider community effort behind the Carnival, visualising all the individual contributions coming together to make it happen.

๐Ÿ’– Thank You from Ballygar Carnival ๐Ÿ’–

The Committee of Ballygar Carnival wish to extend a very sincere thank you to all who helped with this yearโ€™s carnival.

Starting off with thanks to the Community Employment Scheme and Ballygar Tidy Towns for their hard work every day keeping the town looking neat and tidy, and especially to Nuala McDonagh for returning all the cans and bottles! Thank you to Tom Naughton and Finbar Holmes for putting up carnival signage.

To An Garda Sรญochรกna for their assistance throughout the weekend and especially to Garda Pat Regan for his help and support, thank you.

Thank you to Murrayโ€™s Amusements for their continued support of the Carnival, providing great fun and entertainment all weekend!

Thanks to Padraic Hannon for his help with the setup of stage, bar, etc. and for leading the walk in the woods alongside Gerard Hannon. Thanks also to Tom Hannon for delivering all the extra chairs for the bingo!

Thanks as well to St. Brendanโ€™s Ladies Football Club for organising the Fun Run, and to the Roscommon Harriers A.C. for providing the equipment and timing gear. Thanks to all the runners who took part and well done! To Sinead Keane for hosting the nature walk and to Paul Connolly for the bus tour - there was a great turn out at these events - thank you!

Thank you to Matt Farrell, Eugene Crehan and John Carty for their help during the year with storing and transporting the stage trailer. Also to Donal Smith and family for providing the location and the power for the trailer over the weekend, thank you. Thanks too to John Gordon, Anthony Doyle and Jamie Walsh, for all their help. To Des Kelly for sorting out the soundproofing curtains and security railings and to Fergus Naughton for providing floodlighting, thank you.

Thanks to the committee at the Mattie McDonagh Centre for hosting us, to the cloakroom staff, the front-of-house staff, the stewards, the caterers and cleaners, and the security team who all ensured that the events ran smoothly at the centre. To Aine Healy for preparing our risk assessment and fire safety documents, thank you.

Thanks to the bar staff for putting in a huge effort over the weekend. Special thanks to Micheal Naughton for taking on the role of bar manager for the weekend! Thanks to Ciara Kenny for arranging the transfer of the bar licence.

To everyone involved in organising and running the Childrenโ€™s Fancy Dress. Thanks to Emer for taking on the duties of MC and also to the judges Keith, Stephanie, and Pierce. A big thank you to all the parents for taking the time to prepare such wonderful costumes and a special mention to the children who took part, thank you all.

Thank you and well done to the buskers that took part in our competition as well as to our team of judges. There were so many positive comments about all of the entrants, the quality and variety of music and singing, and the lovely atmosphere it brought to our fair day. Thank you to Diarmuid Sutton for organising it, as well as helping with the fun run preparations and DJing at the fancy dress.

Thanks to Mike Leahy and Deerpark Dog Club for the Working Dog Display. To Sue Duke, Bridget Giblin, Teresa Campbell, Caroline Mockler, Ava Lynch and all the team who organised and ran the Carnival Dog Show, along with Mr. Cyril Dunne for judging, thank you. Thanks to everyone who participated and congratulations to the winners on the day!

To all local voluntary groups who contributed to the Fair Day and to all the stall owners who attended and exhibited their wares, thank you. Thanks also to the very dedicated team who organise and run the Bingo so well every year.

Thanks to photographers Peter Daly (Ballygar Banter) and Clare O'Neill for capturing so many special moments from our 81st Carnival.

To the Ballygar Carnival Board of Trustees and to the former committee members for their assistance and advice, thank you.

A huge thank you to the local businesses and all our sponsors for their very generous contributions and continued support of the festival.

Finally, thanks to Dr. Martin Daly TD for introducing the Ballygar Carnival Documentary: No Effort Spared, and of course a massive thank you to Keith Gordon for bringing the whole project to fruition. It is everything we hoped it would be and more. Weโ€™re really elated with all the positive feedback!

The carnival is run by the community, for the community, and with so many people involved we hope we didnโ€™t accidentally leave anyone out, so thank you ALL for your help and support. Preparations are already underway for Carnival 2026! See you then!
