The Galway Energy Summit (GES) was founded in 2018 and is Irelands first ever student led energy summit. This event provides a unique opportunity, connecting students, industry and academics from all backgrounds through discussion on sustainability, technology and innovation.
Last year, GES took place in the National University of Ireland, Galway. The event attracted over 500 delegates and partnered with 20 companies/organisations which included ESB , Crowley Carbon, Jaguar Landrover , ESB X_Site, Accenture, Enerit, Veolia, MaREI, The Ryan Institute , Bank of Ireland, Teagasc, Cundall, Eirscope, Renault and Voice Recycle Ireland. These companies and organisations had a first-hand opportunity to connect with all delegates, engaging in meaningful discussion and promoting job opportunities in industry.
In 2019, the Galway Energy Summit will be hosted in NUIG on Tuesday the 12th of March. The theme for the event will be “Changing for our Climate” with an additional focus on the role of the technology and innovation sector. On the day we will have two panel discussions. The first panel discussion is titled “Can technology Save us” . Here, some high profile representatives from industry will present about developing technologies which will reduce our carbon footprint. Our main panel discussion is titled “Changing for our climate”. On this panel , representatives from government , industry and environmentalist/socialists groups will lead a discussion about the action that must take place in response to climate change.
This is a student run event- hosted and attended by students and will allow for a strong step towards a sustainable Ireland. We invite you to join us on the 12th of March. In this document, a brief overview of the outline of the event is included with our sponsorship and stand details.
