A Pot of Films Film Club is back this month and we are absolutely chuffed to bring another highly entertaining compilation of short films that show the rich variety within film. There will also be a big North Clare contingent on show, offering yet another representation of the incredibly inspiring artistic and creative talent in the area.

Join us on Wednesday, 12 March from 8pm at Pot Duggans for a screening of the following films from some fab filmmakers. The full running time of the screening will be 74 minutes.

🎞️ Leisure With Dignity by Anne Maree Barry

"Barry’s richly atmospheric film is a clear-headed, unsentimental and subtle mediation on the lives women (in the Monto) could negotiate for themselves within the confining and disabling structures of patriarchal power and authority."
Aidan Dunne, The Irish Times, June 2017
Leisure with Dignity (2017) is part of the The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon Collection

🎞️ Beavertown's Flightmare by Helen Mullane

A story of turbulence, tentacles, and terror. Take a psychedelic journey on Beavertown Air Flight 1013. Destination… Unknown. Recline your seat, watch the clouds race by… and let the dread creep over you. When on board, please be terrified responsibly. We hope you enjoy your fright. Created by Nick Bloomfield, Helen Mullane, Beavertown, Like Minded Individuals, Black Dog Films, and Alice Bloomfield

🎞️ The Last Harvest by Maeve Stone

Ireland, 2112, Helen wakes one morning to discover an invasive species has infected her young community’s wheat crop. She is haunted by a promise she made to her best friend Kari and must do everything she can to save it for the children to survive.

🎞️ A Special Preview Screening by Aisling Magill

🎞️ Sound & Colour by Emma Foley

Having to return home after her attempted su***de, sarcastic loner Hannah must face her dysfunctional and emotionally repressed family. Produced by Emma Foley and Assistant Producer Norma Howard.

🎞️ Glass House by Róisín El Cherif

Music video written and directed by Róisín El Cherif. A Fail Safe Films Production.

💛💙 See you tomorrow! 💙💛

Join us tomorrow from 8pm at Pot Duggans for a screening of some comedy short films. Here’s a taster of what’s in store:

🎸 Motorastola: El Grito de una Ciudad (The Cry of a City)
Mockumentary by Ane Lindane (with English subtitles)

A paralelism between the social movements of the 80s and the 2010s in Bilbao (Basque Country). Veganism and love vs drugs and violence. Motorastola is a motorpunk band (whatever the hell that is), what adventures will our 3 guys get up to in this award winning documentary?

🍩 Come Down by Fiona A***n

Ciara won’t come downstairs. Shane isn’t happy. But finding Ciara’s gratitude journal inspires a chaotic plan to restore balance. Come Down is about doing our best for someone we love and making the best of the small moments no matter what.

⛓️ The Dark by Niall Seery

Two gangsters interrogate a member of a rival gang.

☎️ The Talk by Jonathan Hughes

A troubled coming out story. The Talk chronicles the life changing conversation that takes place between father and son when staunchly unionist father Dennis walks in on his son Barry in bed with a man. However, Barry isn’t the only one hiding a secret from the family.

🕰️ The Waiting is Over by Dermott Petty

Vladimir and Estragon have been waiting for the elusive Godet. Could this be him? Is there a God? Will Estragon get his boots on?

No ticket booking required, just rock up. Cash donations accepted on the night.

Looking forward to sharing another pot with you soon! 💛💙

We are delighted to share that we will be returning to The Salmon Bookshop & Literary Centre next Wednesday 20 November at 8pm for the screening of the beautiful feature documentary ‘The Silver Branch’ by Lahinch-based filmmaker, Katrina Costello.

This will be a ticketed screening and all proceeds will go to Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF for their Gaza Appeal.

Tickets for the screening are available in link below. Our last screening at The Salmon sold out so do get yours before they go!

‘The Silver Branch’ is a multi award winning film that immerses us in the exquisite textures of the natural world, bringing us a rare glimpse of a disappearing way of life with all its richness and roguery, and leading to a deep connection with the Earth and our ancestral wild spirit, drinking deep at the well of one man’s story, one family’s joy and heartbreak.

Take a look at the official trailer here.

‘The Silver Branch’ is a film by Katrina Costello of Silver Branch Films - an Irish based film camerawoman, director and producer, specializing in immersive cultural and natural history creative documentaries. Katrina has a host of International Awards and festival wins. While the gentle, enveloping images of Katrina’s film slow the heart beat, the poetry and urgency of the narrative reminds us that some struggles are so continual, so universal, that they are not chosen by us but are a matter of the very meaning of our lives.

Looking forward to seeing you there and continuing to share the Pot with you.

We hope the Autumnal season is being well and truly Samhain'd to you so far!

Last month we saw the inaugural screening of the A Pot of Films Film Club with a preview of Darragh McKeon's feature thriller 'Akhirah' at the beautiful The Salmon Bookshop & Literary Centre. Thank you to all who attended.

We were thrilled when Darragh agreed to choose the film selection for this month's film club screening. This month, our monthly screening will take place in Pot Duggans, Ennistymon next Wednesday, 23 October from 8pm.

Our October film will be 'Mustang', a Turkish drama film directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven and co-written by Alice Winocour.

When five orphan girls are seen innocently playing with boys on a beach, their scandalized conservative guardians confine them while forced marriages are arranged.

Set at an unspecified time in the 2010s in a remote Turkish village, Mustang depicts the lives of the sisters and the challenges they face growing up with extended family as girls in a conservative society. Mustang is an international co-production of France, Germany and Turkey.

This months screening will be a free event with donations welcomed that will go to supporting the A Pot of Films Film Club. No sign up or booking needed, just rock on up before 8pm and grab your seat. Running time is 1hour 37 min and we hope you can stick around for some conversations thereafter.

Here's a trailer to tickle your fancy.

Delighted to announce the first A Pot of Films film club screening which will take place next Tuesday, 17 September from 8pm at The The Salmon Bookshop & Literary Centre, Ennistymon.

We are thrilled to let you know that we will have a preview screening of writer and director Darragh McKeon‘s debut feature film, ‘Akhirah’ (The New World) - what lucky ducks we are!!! 🦆

Here’s a little bit about it:

Three years ago, Sharif Hassan sold his kidney to begin a new life in Barcelona. Now, he acts as a broker for an underground clinic – convincing new immigrants to trade their organs for money. When his boss’ bipolar son acts as a whistleblower, Sharif is forced to ask how far he is willing to compromise his morals, to provide a future for his family. Currently in post-production. Due for release in 2025.

Written and directed by Darragh McKeon.
Language: Spanish with English subtitles.

It has been nearly two weeks since the inaugural A Pot of Films Festival 2024 and what a beautiful weekend it was. We are delighted to share these sweet snaps by Anja Kolic Photography who captured the festival so well.

From the workshops between Teach Ceoil and the The Courthouse Gallery, to our filmmakers networking meet up at Pot Duggans and the evening screenings of the short films made during the young people’s workshop and of the short film national selection. Not to mention the stunning screening of feature documentary North Circular topped off by the cherry on top of the film festival cake which was a Q&A with director Luke McManus and local filmmaker and founder of Silver Branch Films, Katrina Costello.

Thank you so much Anja and for sharing your creative skillz with us 🥰💛💙

A Pot of Films is the first community film festival in Ennistymon. Without the support of all our local funders, sponsors and friends of A Pot of Films, it could not be the festival it has shaped up to be.

There is an eclectic array of talent in Ennistymon and North Clare, and it is fantastic to be able to celebrate the talent and skills of both local and national filmmakers here. This could not be done without the support of Liam Grant and our funders Clare County Council.

Local businesses have had a monumental role in supporting this festival and investing in the creation of space for film enthusiasts in the area to connect and develop. A big míle buíochas and thanks goes to Fitzpatrick's SuperValu, The Falls Hotel & Spa, The Aloe Tree, Jimi's Barber Shop, Ultra Design, The Milk Step, Pot Duggans, Hayes Print Ltd., Cooley's House, The Salmon Bookshop & Literary Centre, The Courthouse Gallery & Studios, Ennistymon, Teach Ceoil, Airmid Natural Handmade Skincare & Gifts and Anja Kolic Photography.

We would like to thank all those who supported our raffle for Gaza Go Bragh also and hope the winners enjoy the Airmid voucher, Salmon Bookshop voucher and cúpla bottles of wine from Pot Duggans. €170 was raised through the raffle and will go straight to helping families in Gaza through providing tents, drinking water, cash assistance and help with evacuations.

Keep your eyes peeled in the coming days for details on the September edition of the A Pot of Films film club screening.
