Easkey Enhancement Association would like to thank everyone in the community who took the time to engage with the recent adverse possession application concerning the Community Centre property.

The application sought to transfer ownership of the Community Centre property to the Easkey Community Council (ECC).

In particular, we are grateful to the many residents who signed the community petition, attended meetings, shared information, and took an interest in a matter that many felt was important to the future of the community. Throughout the process, many people expressed the view that the Community Centre should remain a community asset for the benefit of the people of Easkey.

We have now been informed that Tailte Éireann has refused the adverse possession application. While the applicant (ECC) may still choose to appeal the decision, this is a significant outcome given the importance of the Community Centre property to many people in Easkey.

We do not know all of the factors that were considered in reaching this decision. However, the process has highlighted the level of community interest in matters affecting local community assets and the value many people place on participating in those discussions.

As we move forward, we hope to focus on positive initiatives that bring people together and benefit the wider Easkey community.
To that end, the EEA will be organising a community get-together in the coming weeks. We encourage everyone to keep an eye on our social media pages, local posters, and the Parish Bulletin for further details.

We hope this gathering will provide an opportunity for people to connect, share ideas, and work together on projects and initiatives that benefit Easkey.

Regardless of individual viewpoints, the level of community engagement throughout this process demonstrated how much people care about the future of Easkey and its community assets.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to become involved. We look forward to continuing to work together for the benefit of our community.
