Homefire Ireland is part of the CPL Industries group, which has been delivering solid fuel for many years. The CPL Industries group has established itself as one of Europe’s leading smokeless solid fuel manufacturers and suppliers. At the heart of operations is the manufacturing plant in Immingham, North East Lincolnshire. Immingham can manufacture and supply the UK and European markets with over
300,000 tonnes of smokeless fuel per year. It is this large production capacity which enables Homefire to supply merchants and importers throughout Europe with a reliable delivery service at all times, even in the middle of winter. Bringing Solid Fuel Production to Foynes
In June 2013 we announced our plans to build a new smokeless fuel production plant at the Port of Foynes. Homefire Ireland seeks to offer a cost-effective, more energy efficient, and greener alternative to traditional coal, and a fuel that people can rely on following the upcoming ban on smokeless coal. Homefire has developed a range of solid fuels that are not only smokeless but also contain a proportion of renewable biomass materials up to 50%, all whilst outperforming traditional coal. These smokeless fuels are approved to be burnt in any area with a ban on smoky coal, and also produce significantly lower CO₂ emissions. Some of the fuels from our Homefire range will also be eligible for carbon tax relief due to their high biomass content. The new Foynes production plant will employ a new proprietary technology that allows us to use a wider range of biomass than previously. Initial discussions have commenced with growers about how this need can be met by developing biomass production over the next few years in Ireland. With Ireland currently importing around 300,000 tonnes of smoky coal from Poland and Colombia, we hope to make a significant contribution to greater fuel security in Ireland
