The Doggie Do

The Doggie Do The Doggie Do, is a Mardi Gras for Mutt and Man - a family friendly festival celebrating dogs and our relationships with them. Tickets on sale now!

As you may have guessed, The Doggie Do is all about dogs. You could say that it’s about celebrating the enduring bond that exists between Homo Sapiens and Canis Familiaris. You could also say that it is all about enjoying a fun family day out in the leafy confines of one of the City’s loveliest parks, Herbert Park. With loads of dogs. The afternoon will also feature a canine costume competition, c

ulminating in the crowning of the crowning of ‘Dog of Dublin 2017'. Since not everyone likes to play dress-up we have programmed a full day of events for the more bashful types. You can expect chats with dog-inspired creators at The Cultured Canine stage, an off-leash play park - 'The Do Run Run, a photography workshop, a look-alike competition, Doggie & Soul relaxation zone, the Dogs Trust Big Yellow Tent, and a strong focus on responsible dog ownership. We have lots more to announce, so make sure you follow this page for all the latest Doggie Do news. We can hardly wait!

love the dogs of Dublin, especially Grizzly. ❤️🐶

“His name is Grizzly which doesn’t really represent him. We named him before we knew his temperament. I worked with the Guards for 25 years before I got him. I used to do shift work so I could never have a dog, but then I got the opportunity to become part of the k9 unit. There were eight places and 450 people applied. I was very lucky! We had a 16 weeks training and since then we live together. He comes home with me every night so we spend almost every day together. We are trained to find missing children and hiding suspects. He is not trained for drugs but if you hide in a shed he will sniff you out from a mile away. I have a daughter, she was eight when I brought him home for the first time. Me and my wive were very nervous, hoping that they would get along. I mean, he can look scary. He is a German Shepard and not a small cuddly dog, we were worried that she may be scared of him. But in just a few hours he had transformed from Grizzly to a small cuddly dog and ever since they love each other. I always say I have two kids: I have a daughter, and this is my son, Grizzly.”

PRESSING PAWS ON THE DOGGIE DO

It's been a hard decision but we've decided to press paws on the Doggie Do this year.

After three memorable outings which have brought many two and four-legged friends into our lives, we've decided to recharge before a return in 2019. We'd like to thank all our friends and supporters as well our partners Dogs Trust Ireland

We will be working on a triumphant return in 2019 and look forward to sharing details with you soon.

Last week we got the very sad news that our very first Dog of Dublin (2015) the wonderful Missi, had passed away. After a very rocky start in life, she lived to an impressive 17 years (that's 119 in human!) and enjoyed a bounty of love and care from Vivien Chanel & family. Her arthritis never held her back - she was too much of a fighter for that. We last saw her at our Isle of Dogs Movie screening (she slept through the whole thing!) Love and sympathy to her pack. We celebrate Missi, our friend... (photo credit Leo Byrne Photography)
