I am honestly surprised I still get to do this!!

With the onslaught of AI this and AI that, the idea of teaching people how to make movies on their phones can seem a bit old-school.

In our bubble, this is all old hat at this point. It can feel like people have moved on to the next new thing.

So when I get to teach at Bealtaine Festival, Harold's Cross Park, it’s class! Such a receptive group, hungry to learn, capture, and create stories. It’s a refreshing reminder that people are still interested in all of this, and maybe we need to step out of my bubble every now and then.

The third one in particular!! Who is it for!!! Lots of times people don’t really take an audience into account!! Is it something an audience will engage with! We get so caught up in making it we never think about the audience watching it!

Should we drop our AI category??

For the last 2 years we have had one! At first we thought this is the way creativity is moving, it’s barrier free filmmaking so it ties into what we are about!

We had problems

1. Some publications wouldn’t promote our event
2. We opened ourselves up to a lot of slop

The second year we did it we were to embarrassed maybe to promote it! We got some submissions but mostly it was very low key.

We are now looking at our categories again and want to know should we have one? Are we turning our back on the future or are we sticking to what’s right!!
