Threads of the Liberties is an Open Call collaboration between textile artist ._nicotra and, community-focused, textile reuse hub,

It invites Liberties community residents to help create a textile art tapestry of The Liberties, which will be unveiled at the opening of the Festival on July 20th.

Combining art and storytelling, through the common theme of sustainability, the envisioned large-scale, textile artwork will be created from clothes and home textiles donated by local people from The Liberties.

The workshops will take place at Change Clothes in the Digital Hub on Tuesday evenings June 9, 16 & 23rd from 6pm-8pm. Classes are free but numbers are limited, so advance booking is required.

In preparation for the class, each participant is requested to bring a piece of cloth or textile of personal meaning which they will contribute to the overall project.

A Dish To Remember is a series of free food and memory workshops in the Liberties this month on the evening of Monday May 25th and Thursday May 28th. It will result in the participants creating their individual dishes in clay, and exhibiting them at the Festival.

Emerging from our Open Call, artist invites a community, old and new, to come together to share stories about food memories, and engage in a clay-making workshop to make the dishes come to life. These memories will be captured by Jennie Moran and designed by

We have limited spaces available for those looking for participants to attend two workshops. You must be available to attend both.

Living Canvas is a partnership between IMMA and that brings Europe’s largest digital art screen to the grounds of IMMA. The screening programme presents contemporary art films and moving image works.

The Liberties Festival in partnership with IMMA Horizons and IMMA Collections Department will programme a community screening of a number of existing works during the week of our festival this summer. If you are from the Liberties, connected to it and have created work relating to it or the community, we welcome your submissions.

Full details on how to submit your work are on our website now. Closing date for submissions is Friday March 27th.

The Singing Hollow by was an original composition commissioned by The Festival@in conjunction with for The performance installation was written for (event producer) along with Nick Roth & the Church bell-ringers.

The Liberties Community Project is delighted to support a new Survey of Community Space in Dublin 8, developed by CORN (Community Organisations Research Network).

This survey aims to build a clearer picture of:

• the organisations delivering vital services in Dublin 8
• the spaces and facilities currently in use
• how well these spaces meet current and future needs

Your input will help strengthen collective advocacy for appropriate, accessible community infrastructure, particularly in the context of ongoing and planned development and regeneration across Dublin 8 over the next decade.

All responses are confidential and GDPR-compliant. Findings will be shared in aggregate form only, with a draft report expected in early 2026.

Deadline: 5pm, 9 February 2026

Our final Open Call selection from 2025 to help inspire those applying this year is A Matter of Time vol. 2.

This was an exhibition and series of workshops held by photographer sound artist & & printmaker

By visiting local businesses, they explored the interwoven nature of labour, locality & time. At its centre was a tribute to the late Kathleen Farrell, the flower-seller on Meath Street. It was presented to her daughter with signed tributes from all attendees at the end.

Details for our Open Call are online and the submission deadline is Feb 6th. An online info clinic will be held next week.

For those of you seeking inspiration for our Open Call, we are revisiting projects selected in 2025. All My Friends are in Australia was a debut theatre piece by emerging company .collective which happened upstairs on Thomas Street.

Co-founders & .ofarrell approached us about their energetic show which responded to our emigration & housing crisis. They were a whirlwind of can-do enthusiasm and a pleasure to assist with their ambitions.

For those of you seeking inspiration for our Open Call, we are revisiting projects selected in 2025. First up was a Soundwalk of the Liberties proposed by which saw participants record sounds in the area. This culminated in a concert on Friday in which Gabriela and band members incorporated these sounds into a live performance.
