Think you need to play an instrument to be a songwriter? Think again! 🚫🎹
Some of the greatest musical minds in history couldn't play a chord or read a single note of sheet music. They used their voices, their rhythm, and their words to change the world.
If you have a melody in your head or a poem in your notebook, you are a songwriter.
Look at these legends who did it all without mastering an instrument:
* Michael Jackson: He famously built entire hits—from basslines to horn sections—by beatboxing and humming them into a voice recorder for his producers.
* Irving Berlin: The mastermind behind "White Christmas" couldn't read music and could only play piano in a single key using a special lever-assisted piano!
* Anthony Kiedis: The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman doesn't play an instrument, proving that powerful lyrics and vocal rhythm are all you need to lead a rock band.
* Mel Brooks: The EGOT winner creates hit musical numbers entirely by humming the melodies in his head to an arranger.
Your voice is your instrument. 🎤✨
Don't let a lack of gear hold you back. Bring your ideas, your notebooks, and your creativity to the Drogheda SongWriting Festival happening on 26th and 27th of September. Whether you are a lyricist, a hummer, or a seasoned pro, there is a place for your story here.
