We know that many inventors claim their hand in the development of radio but one man is synonymous, Marconi but without the Irish there would be no wireless as from 1897 to 1900 they became the overwhelming financial backers of the new wireless. Popular broadcaster Gerry Kelly has died at the age of 77.

The long-standing journalist and presenter was best known for his work on UTV and later as a host on BBC Radio Ulster in a career spanning over four decades.
