Fourth Best Archival Workshop 🌞

St Peter's, North Main Street- Sat 11 Oct - 2pm

Free event, more information at riverrunround.com 🎟️

Colm Cahalane from Fourth Best Magazine invites the public to come with the digital remains of musical memories they fear most likely to be lost to the sands of time, and commit to making them a part of the archive – be it catalogued in a database, written up on Wikipedia, or MP3s hidden away on the Internet Archive. As work begins to disappear from fragile streaming platforms, this is essential business. Featuring a short talk and a guided activity getting digital material online. Please come with digital material.

Caoilian Sherlock & Jean Pack 🌞

Following the release of Jean Pack’s debut EP Allora, produced by musician Caoilian Sherlock, the duo have announced an upcoming tour in which these two uniquely compelling songwriters will share the stage for three upcoming dates around Ireland joined by their bands; The Big Children and The Slay Babies.

The Bella Jesus Tour begins on October 9th at The Record Room in Limerick, continues on October 12th at Coughlan’s in Cork as part of the River Runs Round Festival, and wraps up on October 18th at Anseo in Dublin.

Caoilian Sherlock has been shaping his craft since the age of fifteen, cutting his teeth in rock and roll bands before venturing into a solo path defined by sparse, folk-tinged arrangements and lyrical candor. Backed by an electric guitar, a wry sense of humor and an overly sentimental view of nearly everything, Sherlock’s sound tips its hat to John Prine and Paul Simon while nodding to modern icons like Waxahatchee and Cass McCombs.

His debut album Teenage Jesus arrived in 2023, followed by a UK and Irish tour that saw him blazing through venues from West Cork to London.

Jean Pack is a Cork-based songwriter blending camp flair with raw feeling – a cocktail of melancholia and mischief, poured neat. Drawing on influences from The Shangri-Las to The Velvet Underground, she crafts lush, lo-fi, slyly lyrical songs that are equal parts cabaret and confessional. Vulnerable, glamorous, and half-laughing through the ache, her music is the perfect soundtrack to a beautiful mess. Her debut EP Allora positions Jean Pack as one of the most thrilling new voices on the Irish scene – daring, glittering, and impossible to pin down.

Muireann Ní Shé is an uilleann piper and singer from County Cork.

Muireann regards her mother tongue, the Irish language, as the gateway through which she became immersed in traditional music and song since childhood.

Muireann graduated with a First Class honours from her BMus degree at the MTU Cork School of Music, and was the 2021 recipient of the Tomás Ó Canainn Gradam Ceoil for Excellence in Traditional Music Performance. During this time Muireann not only honed her craft as a traditional musician and composer, mentored by Johnny McCarthy, but she also expanded her skillset and became passionate about arranging music through a more contemporary lens, studying both classical and jazz harmony.

Seamas Hyland is a multi-instrumentalist, set dancer and composer who focuses on both traditional and experimental music. He enjoys exploring the varied sonic capabilities of the button accordion and creating tonal landscapes using field recordings he collects. He enjoys collaborating and improvising with artists such as Acid Granny, Jennie Moran and Eimear Walshe and is particularly intrigued by the contrasting nature of traditional and experimental music and how/if these can be presented together. He recently released his debut solo album ‘Maidin Domhnaigh’ and was nominated for an RTÉ Folk award for best emerging artist. He is now working on recording his second album.

We talk about this a lot, but nothing would be possible at River Runs Round or any other festival if it wasn't for the audiences that come to the shows and show their love.

We've put together a tiny survey - it shouldn't take long, and if you have a minute to fill it out it could really help us make sure what we do next is growing in the right direction.

The link is available on our profile x

Thank you all for everything, and whether you fill this out or not, we appreciate you so much.

✨️ A small and beautiful artefact from the weekend we wanted to share ✨️

Thank you to everyone who came to Maureen's over the two days of the Estuary and lent us your voices and ears. It was an incredible and magical feeling, and not a moment was without that sweet joy of being among others.

These gorgeous drawings were done on the day by and the weekend allowed to bloom by the eternally enchanting Maureen.
