.ie MAGIC FOOD…
Who can take a bunch of gorgeous but simple ingredients and turn them into plates of absolute deliciousness? Bob Cairns can!

Head chef of served up beautiful organic Dexter beef (raised on the farm) in 50% of the dishes. Was it a problem? Hell no! The minced beef on a sourdough starter was rich with deep and smoky spice and lifted with bright notes of fresh red onion and coriander.

Asparagus, perfectly cooked, on a zest blasted labneh, Berbere powder, and an amped up new season scallion and parsley dressing that pleasantly tingled the nose.

Main course, and time for beef again! This time sirloin chargrilled for optimal bark, bloody and buttery and oh-so good! Frances potatoes (one of the many varieties cooked on site) laced with dill and butter, and a delicious melange of early summer veggies.

Then dessert. Huge fun! Bob says “Butterscotch Boudin”, I say “Angel Delight - but make it fancy!” This was gorgeous! The butterscotch taken to the very edge with a perfect hint of bitterness all floated away on a creamy cloud of nostalgia! The crème fraiche the perfect accompaniment to pull back just enough from being too sweet to bang on!

Every bite was a thoroughly enjoyable expedition of in-season produce grown and reared just yards from the restaurant kitchen.

It is always a delight to visit here - real gem just a quick spin from Clonakilty town. When will you book in?
