Just in case you needed another reason to come to Clonmel next weekend…

Clonmel Applefest made The Irish Times’ list of 25 of the best food and drink festivals across Ireland.

Food, harvest, music, arts, nature, stories, apples and a fair bit of Clonmel mischief. Turns out we’re in very good company.

Thanks to Ali Dunworth | Food, Drink & Travel Writer and The Irish Times for the lovely nod.

An evening of Tipperary wh***ey, good stories and jazz.

Join Jennifer Nickerson, founder of Tipperary Distillery, at the Donoughmore Club for a tasting of five to six distinctive Irish wh***eys, produced just outside Clonmel.

Jennifer will share the story behind the distillery and its field-to-bottle approach, from barley grown on the family farm to distillation and maturation, before guiding us through the award-winning wh***eys themselves.

With live jazz guitar from Liam O’Reilly, it promises to be a very fine way to start your Friday evening. Over 18's only.

Friday 25 September | 5.30pm
Doors open 5pm
The Donoughmore Club, Nelson Street, Clonmel
€25 including 5–6 wh***ey tastings

Trad. But not as you know it.

Fresh from a busy summer on the road, including All Together Now and Electric Picnic, megaTRAD are rolling into Clonmel for the Applefest Harvest Hooley.

Expect full-force trad fusion, followed by DJ Lorcan Ryan keeping the hooley going into the night.

And because you can’t have a harvest hooley on an empty stomach, there’ll be hearty beef stew with beef from James Whelan Butchers and apple pie from coffee bla bla bla.

Come hungry. Stay for the hooley.

Another Applefest event is ripe for the picking 🍎

Tickets are now open for Well Being: A Guided Walk on Wells, a special gathering with author Charlotte Emily Rose at one of Clonmel’s most beautiful and ancient places, St Patrick’s Well.

Charlotte is the author of Well-Being, which documents the recently unearthed water heritage of Kinsale, including an extraordinary one hundred old spring water wells.

At Applefest, she’ll bring some of those discoveries to Clonmel for a fascinating talk on ancient wells, water heritage and the stories held by these places, followed by a short ritual and a relaxed wellside sharing of poems, songs and stories.
